Hi all...I'm an American married to a Brit for just over 4 years...we live in the UK and I am SICK of making cups of milky tea!! What is it about tea that keeps these darn Brits coming back for more...even when they are in 90 degree heat? "Boy, I'm hot...would you make me a cup of tea?" lol The thought of that makes me sweat!
Ok, so I like a cup of hot tea in the winter time...on a nice chilly morning...but I make my hubby darling 10 cups a day...and that's when he's home from work! lol
How much do YOU love tea??

I just have to laugh at this...I'm pretty sure it's illegal in this country to serve drinks ice cold!! Most places I've been to don't even put ice in the drinks!!!

It is a tradition and a habit. Back when tea was introduced to the British Isles no one had central heating. When people came in from the rain they were chilled so tea warmed them up. It is like our Pepsi which we drink ice cold in the dead of winter. We have the comfort of central heating, however.

drinking tea is better at quenching thirst than cold water any way.
but we drink tea because it is refreshing, gives you some gusto (caffeine hit) and it helps you wash down the cakes and biscuits too.
plus it helped us to hold on to an empire - so maybe there is a fond longing for our times of glory past.
