It is really a pet hate of mine...spitting in the street. Why do people do it? If you have to then maybe you could do it discreetly in the curb, but only if you have to. But people, young and old, just walk along on the pavement and gob-at-will, it's so disgusting. I t makes me feel sick if I accidentely step in it. I think there should be 'spit wardens' who can issue on the spot fines for offenders. IF YOU DO IT...STOP NOW!

Spitting, yuck, it makes me heave when people spit. Someone once spat on my drivers side window, I heaved all the way to work. Only shere determination stopped me from being sick. Anyone who spits in front of others is truely disgusting. I agree with 'spit wardens'....... who can issue a fine, yeah, that would teach the filthy animals who think its fine to spit in the open.

Your no longer the only person who thinks so. We have been on trip in manhattan and my cousin had the flu, at some point after we've been out finding out to purchase he threw up in a gutter (because of the fact he did no longer decide directly to shrink to rubble the sidewalk) and he have been given ticketed because of the fact there replaced right into a regulation which you couldnt even spit on the line.

Public spitting actually has been banned by a city ordinance in my area, and I am glad they did enact a ban. I am really disgusted with public spitters- and not just because all that spit and phlegm is gross. I also hate the fact that the offenders actually have it in them to do such a nasty thing. What ever happened to being couth?

I do so agree very much, I also feel sick when people do it. men r the worst offenders,even the footballers r at it, it's so disgusting and yes they should have spit wardens, most definately. well done 4 highlighting it.

IT IS DISGUSTING!!! It is also a health issue, bacteria, and germs spread out into the air...no wonder there are so many new strains of illnesses that were non existent before. If it is an emergency, then I guess it can't be helped. But if at all possible, it should be spit into a napkin, or tissue and disposed of properly.

I'm not a big spitter, only when nessesity dictates, but I find that women spitting is alot worse than a man spitting, because in general men are pigs. What I really hate is when people spit on stuff that the public use, that is vile.

I agree it is disgusting. You get fined if your dog goes to the toilet in the street and spitting is just as disgusting so you should get fined for that too.

I think this habit is disgusting too. But I find it even more disgusting for cigarette smokers to throw their butts out of car windows or just drop them on the street. Why can't people think about what they are doing?
