There is a certain amount of tax that is directed towards international missions. Currently the majority of it is being sent to iraq and afganistan. But if iraq was not being payed for than it would be likely that u.s soldiers would be serving in numerous united nations peace-keeping missions e.g africa and the asia-pacific nations. (they cant now, too many other commitments) and the money would be put through the u.n anyway.

Basically the military will get our money anyway, the best thing to do is to think about the money we do have, as opposed to the money we dont. Life sucks sometimes.

It has cost alot of money and I don't see that ending anytime soon.

I would rather the money stay here in the US, obviously. I would rather our country be able to afford to improve our decaying infrastructure. I would rather our country be able to supply all of its citizens with affordable healthcare. I would rather our country be able to better support our senior citizens in need. Build bigger and better schools.

Unfortunately our country can't do these things right now because our Country has had to step up to the plate and come to the aid of other countries yet again. I am proud of my Country for doing that. Our country needs to do whatever is necessary to support and protect us. Likewise, we should be doing what is necessary to support our Country. I want our men and women in uniform to have the best of everything so they can BE the best over everyone. That costs alot of money and as a taxpayer I am willing to help fund this. I am proud of my country for taking the lead in the War on Terror.

You have my opinion.

Mr Bush's personal vendetta has cost way too much sending this nation on the verge of bankrupsy! The troops God Bless them arre sacrificing their lives for King George whilest the real enemies go free, like Bin Ladden and their corp which Bush recieved large sums from prior to taking office, the Saudi's whos governement is equally as bad as Iraq's was, still holds us hostage with Opec, and they finaniced 911! But they are his friends

Part of the problem is that the numbers reach a point where they have no meaning for me. What is a trillion dollars really?

You can say "every home in American could be fitted with solar panels", but it is still a big concept to try and grasp

It's worth it. It's too bad so many people here are blinded by their self-righteous sanctimony and Bush-hatred to see the truth.

And it is worth more than the welfare state that's costing us $1.5 trillion per year, and increasing at geometric rates with no end in sight.

There is nothing more expensive both in blood and money than a war. That's why it should be entered into only for the best of reasons. A category that I think that Iraq fails badly.

I would rather we spend the money on our country instead of another. We will let our senior citizens die because they can't afford to buy prescriptions but we will spend a million dollars to drop a bomb on someone else.

If the Military were allowed to go into the theatre and do thier job in THIER OWN WAY - the way they have been trained thanks to our tax dollars in taxes, there would be a LOT less tax dollars wasted.

I refer you to a previous question in this Military category. Please, do check it out today -

I would rather have all my money go to pay motivated young men and women to fight the enemy than have any of it go to some lazy welfare case.
