I believe it says somewhere in the Bible that we should forgive 70 times 70, but have you ever done that and does anyone keep count?

The 70 X 70 was mentioned for how many times your brother asks for forgiveness.

Here's what Jesus said about the subject of enemies and loving them : But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust

I believe it's 70 times 7. I really don't think Jesus meant to only forgive 490 times and then we can not forgive anymore. I think He wants us always to forgive others. Take Care

Kill the person with kindness. ( not literally!! ) Keep being nice to the person, and they will see, you aren't trying to be mean or do anything, you just want to be nice and be a good friend. Don't give up hope, even though you may have lost count on how many times you have forgiven someone, without forgiveness in return.

It's very difficult. But love is not just an emotion, it is an action. So, you can perform the act of love to someone who hates you. That's what Jesus did. When He was crucified, He prayed for His Father to forgive the very people who were killing Him. Peace.

Instructions for forgiving someone:

Luke 17:3 - "If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him."

See, some Christians are under the assumption that we're to just hand forgiveness out on a silver platter to everyone we come across. But the condition is, IF they repent, then we forgive. And If they DON'T repent, then REBUKE them, like it clearly says. Jesus never forgave anyone who didn't repent. It is conditional.

As humans it is very difficult. If we try we can do it though. I have a difficult time forgiving and loving those who hurt me but I have to remember that I have hurt others also and they forgave and love me.

It really sounds harder than it is. People who hate you are usually the ones who need your attention the most. Simply try to be positive in everything you say to this person. Find something random to compliment them on at least once a week. Eventually they will come around.

I think more difficult than loving those who hate me is forgiving those who hurt me.
Forgiveness in spite of pain is more supreme and that is why Allah encourages us to forgive each other and gives us motive when He tells us that forgiving each other makes us eligible to receive His forgiveness.

Peace

True Love is not dependent on the response of the one loved.

How difficult?... easier then than one might think.

It is difficult, only with Jesus in your heart can you do this. The numbers only mean always.
