It is going to be hotter by0.4 deg C by every year. Assuming that the rate cotinues unchecked, the world temperature could go by 20 degrees C in fifty years. Would human existence be possible then?

I believe the earth balances itself. It gets hotter causes more clouds which blocks out the sun and the temperature drops and we go into another ice age.

Basically like a nuclear winter.

We need to define doomsday. At some point, if temperature increases by as much as say, 5 degrees C, we will be facing some serious problems and the world population will start to diminish. Doomsday is when? At the moment the population stop climbing and start diminishing or when it went down by 10% or something. I imagine the later. If we see millions of people die, people will claim that because we will not be used to hear about that kind of high number. The big Tsunami in Asia almost 2 years ago, was seen very important with the 250,000 people that died. I think that with 2,000,000 or more, and per year, people will definitely define this as doomsday.
However, human existence will surely still be possible, we send some humans on the moon... I agree, they only stayed there for less than an hour...
The point is, I'm confident to think humans will survive, the question is, how many will not.

The most recent date I have heard for the end of the world due to climate change is 2050. The dates keep getting pushed further ahead. You see, the truth is, nobody really knows how much this planet can take. Scientists can only theorize on what kind of impact we have had and how what we have already done will continue to affect our earth.

Then you add in the fact that we are becoming more and more aware of our impact on the earth and are curbing our harmful actions. This is a whole new variable, we are presumably doing less harm now. So how does that factor into the equation of when the earth will end. Also, how do you factor in the continually improving attitudes towards the earth and our impact on it? It seems we keep decreasing our impact and coming out with more friendly ways of using our resources.

Global warming is a fact,, but there are far too many variables to decide if and when we will have and actual "doomsday"

The warming could make the Earth more habitable in inhospitable places like Siberia or the Sahara,, or lead to another ice age,, or even planet wide fire and another Venus.

The fact is we really don't know.

We are tinkering with something we do not understand. The best thing we can do is get off fossil fuels,, think of ourselves as part of the environment, and prepare to leave the Earth and expand our foothold in the solar system.

Keep in mind,, if we stop global warming right now,,end world hunger, and find world peace,, we will over populate this planet in just 30 years.

Oh boy! A dooms day question!

"continues unchecked"?

your question implies that MAN is causing it. Your question assumes that this is not some natural cycle.

Did man cause the "warm up" from the last ICE-AGE until now?

(the answer is "no") - So what makes you think man is causing the temperature "changes" now?

Man can no more control the Earth's temperature then we can it's orbit.

Is your question ELECTION YEAR motivated? Or did you just forget to say "assuming it's real".

Never know but atleast not in theese 10 years if things go at the present rate. It would atleast require 500 years for that day. And it wont be instant it can also b slow disintegration Which has started long ago

Everyone currently on earth right now will not be here when global warming takes over. Rest assured you're safe for the rest of your life. If there is global warming!

If this continues the way it is foing, the earth will not sustain life much longer, maybe another century.

Yes of course. We can adopt very well. We have refridgerators, fertilizers, air conditioners... etc.

It would be better if we stopped globl warming though.
