IPL only works if the hair is darker than the skin and if you're not dark skinned. This is because it relies on the melanin (or pigment) in the hair absorbing the light ("laser") projected onto it. If your skin is darker than the hair, the pigment in your skin will absorb the light and can lead to scarring. The light works on destroying the follicle, preventing the hair growing back. It has to be done in cycles and will not be effective right away but it will lead to permanent hair reduction providing you fit the criteria. It doesn't hurt at all, really. You do feel it...but it's not really a feeling of pain. It's just like if you were taking an up close photo of your skin.

I have had laser hair removal and regretted it. I found out after paying over $3000 US dollars, that it is not removal, but "reduction". It is not permanent, and you will need re-treatment, very few places will tell you this. To top it off, recent studies have shown that the lasers are damaging the pigment in the skin, leaving you with white blotches. A friend of mine has one right on her lower chin. It is terrible. I later turned to electrolysis. A much better option. It takes longer, you have to go more often, but the results are permanent, less painful, and will not damage your pigment. Hope this helps!

It is very effective, I have polycystic ovaries and find that the hair does grow back and I have to get repeat treatments, but it is still worth it for me, I reckon I would have to go back 1ce every 6mths, when I am completed, this is apparently normal if you have PCOS. It is very painful at first when the hair is thick, but it does get easier to bear, it works best with pale skin and dark hair, you mustn't have a tan, so get going if you want to be finished by next summer. It is expensive, but it changes my life so much that it is totally worth it. Good luck.

Well I haven't, but my friend has, and she thought it was a good idea, but then she couldn't keep up with the sessions, as they were costly (A few hundred dollars (Australian))
Basically, it depends on the texture of your hair whether its fine or coarse...That will determine how smooth the results you'll get from the treatment...
