The first sign a species is becoming sentient is when they have evolved to the point where they can abstract enough to invent a god. The first time a species achieves sentient maturity is when the get rid of their gods.

Hmmm, I kind of get what you are saying, but I think your reasoning is flawed. Genetic and social evolution are very different, and it would be difficult to prove a genetic evolution in atheists, because an atheist could - at any time in his/her life, decide to convert to some religion or other.
I do think that there is some sort of social evolution occuring at the moment; many people seem to be going along the path of closing their minds, eating a poor diet, overbreeding, indulging in mind altering substances and refusing to do either mental or physical tasks for themselves. Let's call them Chavs for the time being.
Then there are people who are taking note of someof the mistakes that have been made by humanity thus far and are working to improve the direction the species is leading the whole planet along.
I would argue that if you took all the drunk, fat, lazy, stupid people and all the intelligent, socially active types into two groups, you would find a higher concentration of religious zealotry among the idiots.
This, of course, would be a sweeping generalisation - and there would be a number of religious people among the idealistic group also. They would be the ones you can have a decent debate with, without them using arguments like "who do you think wrote the bible?" - or just throwing their scat at you and trying to hump your daughter.

Evolution theory doesn't see any change as being necessarily to a "higher level" - just that some are better adapted to surviving in the prevailing conditions. A mole could evolve wings but they'd be a step backward for him, because they'd get in the way when tunnelling.
Changing from a theistic belief system to atheism is a "social mutation", certainly. It would have been disadvantageous in the 16th century, because you'd have been burned as a heretic. Today, it has plus points (don't waste time praying, spend your Sundays at Ikea instead; don't blow yourself up to prove to your creator that you love him) and minuses (less supportive social network; your kids have to go to lousy state comps instead of better-funded faith schools).
Which mutation will ultimately prove the survivor - or whether both will continue in competition, each finding its niche - only time will tell.

Ummmmmm very unlikely as u cannot prove He doesn't exist as I know I can not prove to u He does. But in order for u to claim for certain there is no God, u would have to have an omniscient intelligence to PROVE it. AND u cannot. Atheists can be smart just as a Christian, but if u cannot accept what I say as I know I am right, it not only makes u less intelligent than someone w/ faith, but makes u ignorant for the truth lies in front of u everyday the sun rises. What makes a heart beat? I know I know:o]

Where is your evidence? on one hand you claim that Atheists are more intelligent so Stalin was more Intelligent than say Albert Einstein? (he believed in a higher intelligence) while Stalin was a Marxist. Hitler was also a a Great thinker? he believed he was accelerating Evolution. On the other hand great leaps in progress was made by Christians schools , welfare reforms and the abolition of slavery ( William Wilberforce)etc. And finally your claim about God what can i say but proof?.

Every man/woman eventually comes to terms with what guides him/her. I will resist expressing my personal opinion on that one. But where is anyone coming up with the conclusion that athiests are more highly developed? Says who? Athiests are "intelligent" and those who live by faith in a Higher Power are not? As our lives unfold, there arise many circumstances into which intellect and reason figure not at all...

the concept of evolution is limited to Genetic changes. Atheists represent a social evolution rather than a biological one.
But it is very reasonable to assume that if tested as a group, you would find significant differences between religious persons and atheists, I expect the atheists group to be made of better educated individuals, and very probably with an higher average I.Q., however, these differences do not signify atheists are a different species.

In my experience, most, not all granted, but most professed atheist's are of probably average intelligence. The average person who claims to disbelieve, does so because they mistakenly think that greater minds than their own i.e scientists in the main, reject a belief in God.
Don't let others tell you what you are allowed to think and believe.investigate some of the evidence yourself and reach your own conclusion.

Have you ever heard the saying "There are no atheists in fox holes"?? Some of them are very intelligent but I think there comes a time in everyone's life that he/she needs God and that's why He's there.

I don't think artheists have reached a higher level at all...in fact it proves to me that they haven't the capacity to think beyond the bare minimum of human capacity...which is this horrible capitalistic world...ruled by greed and selfishness...
