Isn't that dangerous? I mean, taking a cold shower right after you work out isn't good for your health, really. I think it's because your body can't adapt to the new temperature or something.

I understand what the others are saying....
But personally, after a good work out, I visit the steam room, the sauna then the spa pool.
Once I feel refreshed, I have a hot shower to clean myself then I alternate between hot and cold showers.
I was told that Muscle damage occurs naturally in each training session. Often the damage is microscopic, with the effects not being felt for up to 48 hours (often called Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, or DOMS).
Cooling the muscles after exercise is a good way to reduce muscular damage and soreness, with there being a number of different options.
So the jury is out.....I do it......and I feel fine after exercise.
I don't do it however to loose weight...I think thats rubbish...but I don't get muscle aches and pains after exercise so it must be beneficial.

No.
I never taken a shower right after work out but I do bring a change of clothes depending on the weather. I lost 112 pounds, so it is not true.

No it's not necessarily true. After working out, your body needs to be kept warm so you should have brought with you another top to wear on the way home.
Your body is trying to adjust and repair, as well as develop. So your immune system will not be at 100%.
Before anyone argues against this, trainers and doctors have advised of this as people go home and get ill a short while after.

What a daft idea. The reason that you shower right after a workout is to ensure that you don't pong afterwards because the perspiration has pushed a lot of toxins and waste out of your pores.

Complete rubbish. It has no effect on your weight at all.
In fact in certain types of yoga you're encouraged not to shower for an hour or so and to rub the sweat back in instead.

WTF? I've never heard that one before! What will they think up next? I guess you'll lose some weight - basically the weight of the sweat on your body from the workout.
The best thing to do after a workout is to have a protein shake as soon as possible, that way your body doesn't break down your muscles as it recovers from exercise but breaks down fat instead.

On the contrary, that can be quite a bad idea. You ought to cool off for a bit before you hit the showers. You'd fall sick if you don't. And no, your body doesn't burn more calories that way.
