O Rh-

2006-10-30 02:36:30 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 1 0

I'm shocked !! Not one correct answer! The so-called universal donor is blood type 0 Rh. neg. (-). The erythrocytes in these individuals have no A or B antigenes and no rhesus antigene, so they can safely (at least 500-1000 ml) been given to any other individual - as seen on TV (ER, trauma patient being delivered, first action: Give him 0-).
Universal Acceptors are individuals with AB Rh pos. As they express all antigenes on their erythrocytes, they don't have antibodies against these antigenes, so they can receive any kind of blood type donations.

the O blood group is called the universal donor since it contains no antigents to coagulate with the other blood group. Therefore it can be transferred to the the body of any person irrespective of his/her blood group.
