Naah, its nothing like that. We love our religion and don't care what they say about it. I love every religion, and pity who don't.
I don't know about the misconception but i think this is true that Buddha was actually born in India not in Myanmar.
Thanks for respecting every religion
With love and respect

Muslimah,
Buddhists will only tell those people who are interested in learning to have better spiritual life. When other people have no interests in learning, there is no use explaining to them.
Buddhists never try to "advertise" their belief in the hope that other people will become Buddhists too.
Misconceptions about Buddhism are, among others: that Buddhists worship statues, Buddhists believe in no God but only gods and goddesses, Buddhists must be poor, etc.
Any other questions, Muslimah? Hope I can give you a little enlightenment. Thank you.

It is a pretty don't-tell-unless -asked sort of thing. Mostly because Buddhism believes every path can legitimately lead to enlightenment, and there's no need to convert people; and besides, if they don't get it this lifetime, they'll be back. ;)
I'd say the biggest misconception is that the Buddha is worshipped. Nobody's worshipped. No god, no big creator--the world is, always has been, and always will be.

Buddhism is not a religion but a teaching to end sufferings by one self through practicing as a way of life.
One has to practice before one can understand the teaching as you go along, so most buddhists only exchange pointers and not preach to other, so the low profile.

I suppose the common ones are that Buddha was a fat Chinese guy..he was Indian...and.....
Buddhists pray to statues & idols.......
Buddhists think that Sidhartha was a God.
There is no focus on Gd in buddhism,he left that up to the individual.
We dont push buddhism onto anyone.
Its a way of life more than a religion.

Bhuddism is a sister religion of hinduism like jainism and sikhism
It's a simplified way of living of life as taught in vedas .Both hinduism and bhuddism are more a way of living than religions.
Hinduism originally called sanatana dharma meaning a principled and good way of life.

The mid-twentieth century Urdu scholar Abu'l Kalam Azad, in his Quranic commentary Tafsir Sura Fatiha, postulates that the Prophet Dhu'l-Kifl, meaning "the one from Kifl," mentioned twice in the Quran (21.85 and 38,48) as patient and good, refers to Shakyamuni Buddha. Although most scholars identify Dhu'l-Kifl with the Prophet Ezekiel, Azad explains that "Kifl" is the Arabicized form of Kapila, short for Kapilavastu. He also proposes that the Qur'anic mention of the fig tree (95.1-5) refers to Buddha as well, since he attained to enlightenment at the foot of one. Some scholars accept this theory and, as support for this position, point out that the eleventh-century Muslim historian of India, al-Biruni, referred to Buddha as a Prophet. Others dismiss this last piece of evidence and explain that al-Biruni was merely describing that people in India regarded Buddha as a prophet.
Buddha didn't teach people to worship him or worship idols, like Jesus didn't (PBUH), Buddha even rejected the Hiduis who worshipped idols. He taught about the middle course (that's Islamic), meditation and good deeds (thats Islamic), karma (that
explains that we are responsible for are actions, and afterlife. I have studied Buhhdha and his teachings are very Islamic. He was an oral teacher and didn't leave any written records himself. He was inspried, I think their is a great chance that he was a prophet (he came a few thousand years before Muhammad.)
Today his followers are divided up, and I believe some have distorted his teachings. But no way of knowing for sure if he is a prophet maybe.
[39:9] Is it not better to be one of those who meditate in the night, prostrating and staying up, being aware of the Hereafter, and seeking the mercy of their Lord? Say, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" Only those who possess intelligence will take heed.
[39:10] Say, "O My servants who believed, you shall reverence your Lord." For those who worked righteousness in this world, a good reward. GOD's earth is spacious, and those who steadfastly persevere will receive their recompense generously, without limits.
