It could be one of the glands in your neck acting up, which might mean you're run down, and/or that you're about to enter into a throat infection for which you'll need antibiotics. I really think you should see a doctor - if it's an infection in your glands or throat, it won't go away by itself. I speak from experience - I once had strep throat (serious throat infection) and I don't think I've ever been so ill in all my life. As soon as I went to the doc, and started taking the antibiotics, I was 100% fine again within a few days. Good luck!

Could be a cyst or a enlarged gland. If its a lump that just feels under the skin like a large spot, then maybe a cyst, if it feels like it is a little deeper and wibbles about under your fingers when you press it (you'll know what I mean if it does) then it's probably a swollen gland. Are you run down or do you have a virus, coldsore or any other infection at the moment? Coz this is usually the cause. Go to the doctors if you are worried or if it doesn't change in a day or so or if you do have an infection of any kind that might need antibiotics, otherwise STOP PRESSING IT!!! and get some rest ;-)

My sister had the same thing for about 2 weeks, she went to the doctor and they said there are some horrible virus's around and that is what she had. They told her to take paracetamol and didnt give her any antibiotics. She had terrible breath too, however, it has since cleared up, and she is fine now.

It sounds like a gland, it usually pops out a bit when we are stressed out or under the weather. By touching it or pressing, you are irritating it which causes discomfort. Leave it for a couple of days and if it still giving you problems or are worried go to the doctor.

Some thyroid disorders can be cured, but many require lifetime treatment. Learn here https://tr.im/xDAyn
For example, sometimes early stage thyroid cancer can be cured by surgery to remove the thyroid gland, but you will need to take thyroid hormone medication afterwards for the rest of your life. Goiters can also be surgically removed and do not always recur after surgery. In most cases, thyroid disorders need treatment over a lifetime. However, with treatment most people with thyroid disorders can live normal, healthy lives.

what makes you think it's not Dental, dentists deal with all the head and neck.

It sounds like either an inflamed lymph node, often a sign of infection or inflammation in the mouth, or elsewhere in the face.

Or could be a blockage in your salivary gland.

If it gets uncomfortable IT IS the Dentist you need to see
