There could , quite possibly be some residual effects from the infection . If there is continued infection then it's possibly tucked away deeply enough that a cursory examination from an MD won't detect it an a specialist should be called upon. The child may be hearing , or better still , feeling unfamiliar sounds. For a 5 year old , re verb ,echos and the like are still unlearned and assuredly frightening. A greater chance comes to light if you've noticed any unbalanced motions or unsurety traversing things like stairs or ordinary obstacles that seem more difficult. If however , all is fine and I do pray that it is , then I'd say that you are witnessing the early stages of a hostile take over attempt. The truth is sometimes stranger than fiction , yet the innocent child can masterfully learn to control the timid parents to a degree that the parents, take orders from the child. Try and never get caught up in that nasty business. There's nothing harder to bear that a single parent of 6 or 7 years old trying to take care of his "30-ish children." Good luck to you all .

maybe he thinks that he will get hurt if your are not around(since he had the ear infection).
Talk to his teacher about it,perhaps she can give you some advice on what to do, for now just let him know he's
fine & that the teachers will take care of him when you
are not there. Good luck

This behavior is perfectly normal. My son is in first grade now and last year was a real learning experience. Some children take longer to adjust to the new schedule, but give them time and this will pass.

it could be that he had a bad dream that you were no longer with him. insure him that you will always be there for him and that you love him very much. then step aside. don't allow your five yearold to control what you do to the extremes of bladder control. good luck .

no, telling -something another kid said,t.v. or just a stage-be there for him, try to understand ,ask him, keep reasurring him, something has scared him, you need to find out what?quite frankly, this isn`t a time for tough love- he`s only 5.
