Pekingese are very brave little dogs. They are sensitive, affectionate and independant. They can be very wary of strangers. They can become hard to feed and will sometimes refuse the food you give him to show his dominance over the family. If the Pekingese is overfed, he can become overweight very quickly. They are loving of their master to the point that they can become jealous. They tend to bark a lot, no matter how much you train them. They can be good watchdogs because of this. They are not recommended for families with children who can be rough to the dog. The Pekingese are often very hard to housebreak and can take up to several months to do so.
