A long time ago there was a British Naval Captain who always wore a red coat during battle. One day one of his men asked why he did so. He said that he wore it so that if he were ever wounded then neither the enemy nor his men would know. Based on this same logic, to this day, French officers wear brown pants!

1. Brown pants make it easier to hide away from the enemy in holes.

2. Their pants were white to begin with, as in 'surrender,' but they tend not to bathe or wash their pants.
