I make plenty of it, being married to an englishman who loves the stuff...
he takes 2 sugars in a regular mug (3 in a big one), a PG tips tea bag (1 for a small cup, 2 for a large one), fill about 3/4 with boiling water. I swoosh it around AND dunk the tea bag by holding onto one of the corners (gotta love those pyramid bags, huh?) I then add some milk...I know it has brewed enough when it's the right color...should be a very dark tan color...I don't leave the teabag in for no 3 minutes, though! goodness! That's one stewed cup of tea!! Only for green tea or herbals do you leave the bag in so long (unless you just LIKE bitter tea! lol)

I think the perfect cup of tea is a combination of using good quality loose leaf tea, good clean boiling water and sufficient steeping in a proper teapot.
Always use loose leaf tea. You simply don't get the same kind of flavor from steeping a tea bag and a tea bag requires constant agitation (dunking) for the tea's flavor to properly come out. If you go to a local store that deals in tea leaves, try buying a good quality tea leaf in the blend you normally like to drink - you'll find it makes a world of difference.
The water should be as pure and clean as possible. Ideally, you should use bottled or purified (like from a Brita filter) water that's boiling or close to boiling.
The third is to make sure that the tea is steeped properly for several minutes (usually 3-5 depending on the tea) in a proper teapot. After steeping, transfer to another teapot and use a tea strainer to filter out the tea leaves so that you don't steep the tea anymore.
Pour into a tea cup and enjoy!

Many of you out there don't know how to make a cup of tea.
After watching Alton Brown explain it, and doing a little research, I have mastered
the art of making a cup of tea. I now share this with you, my loyal reader.
First, you need fresh water.
Pour out the water in the kettle from the day before.
Pour in some fresh water from your preferred source.
I use filtered tap water and am please with the result.
Place the kettle on the stove get the heat going.
Do not watch it. A watched kettle will not boil.
While the water is boiling, prepare the rest of the gear.
You will need a teapot, a cup, a strainer, a teaspoon, and your favorite tea.
Note my excellent teapot. It's Japanese and I got it for a steal on eBay.
Good tea does not come in tea bags.
Good tea is loose and keep in a sealed container tin.
I get my tea from Golden Moon Tea. They have the good stuff.
Now here is the tricky part.
You need to measure out a heaping teaspoon of tea and put it in the strainer holder.
Isn't it amazing that the teaspoon holds exactly the right amount of tea for a cup of tea.
If you are making more than one cup of tea, then you should put in one teaspoon per cup.
Some mention adding another teaspoon of tea 'for the pot', but I haven't found it necessary.
Some people like to use teabags to skip all this,
but that would be wrong.
This poor woman is briefly dipping her crappy teabag
Next, you need to warm up your teapot. You want to make sure that the
hot water used to brew your tea stays hot. To ensure this, you want to warm up
the teapot with a little hot water before you begin to brew.
Just swish it around the teapot for a few seconds and then dump it out.
The teapot should feel warm.
Now you are ready to put the tea in the pot.
Just dump it in.
Now pour in the hot water. About a cup more that you are going to drink.
The tea is now steeping in the pot.
I let mine steep for about a minute.
Too long, and the tea will be quite bitter.
A few crazy types enjoy their tea with the leaves in the cup.
These people are, of course, crazy.
Use a small strainer to catch the tea leaves before they enter your cup.
The cooking is complete.
You have successful made a cup of tea.
All that's left is to sit down with the morning paper and enjoy your tasty beverage.

I always get good comments on my tea!!
I always make sure i ask the person im making it for how they like it, weak, strong, sugar etc.
Then the trick is to put the desired amount of milk in first - before you add the water, this eliminates the horrible scale you can get on the top of the tea.
Make sure you pour the water slowly on top of the teabag using a spoon to lift it as you do so., then leave for a minute, squeeze the bag and stir!!!
Perfect cup of tea!!!

Always use boiling water.
Never put the milk in before its had time to stew
Move the T-bag around the water to allow it to flow through all the leaves.
Squash the T-bag against the side occasionally for max flavour
Add a clove before you add the milk
Add sugar/honey if needed.
Add milk
Drink - Best of tea ever! My mum makes them like that and they're addictive

In a tea pot
Warm the pot first, add two or three bags or if you have it loose tea...but you will need a strainer for loose tea. Pour on boiling water and leave for about 2 minutes.
In a china cup, add a little milk, then pour brewed tea. Cant be beaten by any fancy "fruity" teas, or Japanees teas.....Best is either PG Tips or Tetleys. Dunk two or three rich tea biscuits.......... Enjoy

1 boil the kettle and rinse/heat the teapot with boiling water.
2 put 2 teabags {for 2-4 people} or i teabag{1 person} into teapot.
3 reboil water if necessary and add to teapot.
4 if your cooker is electric, place teapot in ring/hob at 1 1/2 for a few minutes. Don't put it to heat on gas however, as the flame may ruin the teapot.
5 stir the tea before serving if you like it strong.
