I tried it once when I reside in St. Croix, USVI. I was offered wabbit stew and it taste pretty good but the thought of it make me sad. They are so cute and the supplier is a police that rear rabbits. He is willing to give me two wabbit babies and i hate to have to eat it first to have the babies for pet.

By the way, they are tender and taste better than chicken in a stew.

Try beef stew recipe except you put wabbit.....food is fun because you can be creative

Sorry but I don't care for wabbit stew however you might like elephant stew since the addition of wabbits is optional.

Luv wabbit. I would cut it in pieces then brown it in a pan, remove it then saute (fry) 3 chopped up onions , crushed garlic and 4or 5 rashers of bacon (chopped up). When the onion is soft put in a tablespoon of plain flour ,fry gently for 1 min. put the rabbit back with some water or stock. Put in a moderate oven for at least an hour and season to taste. Enjoy.

Yes I love it----Try this---fry down your Wabbit, take out--add 1 stalk celery,2 carrots, 1/2 bellpepper,1med. onion(chopped fine)Stir around in the pot until coated. Put wabbit back in add 1can stewed tomatoes and 2 chopped potatoes.Make sure that your liquid covers the meat and potatoes.Sprinkle some seasoning salt and cover till done.Check the potatoes, when they are done ---THE WABBIT IS WEADY!!!!

Yes, it's lovely! Stew is one of the easiest ways to cook any meat. Here's my all-purpose recipe.

1. Get a frying pan, grease with a little oil, and put it on the hob at a medium temperature. When it's heated up, put each portion of rabbit in one at a time, turning quickly, to seal all of the surface area, but not to cook it. Remove each as soon as sealed, and place on a plate lined with kitchen roll, to drain and rest.

2. Get a big pan, put some chopped onions, chopped carrots, chopped swede/turnip, any other root veggie apart from potatoes. Put the potatoes aside until later in the cooking process. Add enough water to cover the veggies, add salt, pepper, and a stock cube or two, some bay leaves (or a bouquet garni) and a splash of red wine. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 20 mins or so. Add the rabbit, stir, bring back to the boil, and then cover and simmer. Leave this to cook for several hours, until the rabbit is cooked, and so tender it will almost fall to pieces. Make sure it doesn't boil dry, of course, but if your lid is tight-fitting, it shouldn't. Next, add the potatoes (chunkily chopped, or whole new potatoes) and simmer slowly until the potatoes are tender but firm. Remove the bouquet garni, bring the temperature back up to boiling, and mix a few tablespoons of cornflour with some cold water, stirring well. Add some of this mixture a few drops at a time to the stew, stirring in well, to thicken. You could use gravy granules instead, if preferred.

Serve with some nice bread, and cabbage or fried leeks (leeks go really well with rabbit!), and enjoy this hearty meal!
