Tell him, he can trust you and that you will not get angry whatever he says. Make him feel comfortable with you as otherwise, guys don't speak out everything. Tell him, you like a guy who speaks the truth, whatever happens.
Thats what I do to my husband and he says everything.

You can't. Most of us guys are not the type to spit out emotions or what we're thinking a lot of the time. When he is ready, he will talk.

Well from past experiance it might be a good idea to either call him when he's alone or talk to him face to face when no one is around. This will cut down on the pressure to answer you and it'll hopefully get him to say how he feels.
