Why does one needs to pray. Is god narcissistic?

May be those who think God is narcissistic (selfish, vain, etc) are narcissistic. Why leave out this option?

If I wear red-colored glasses, I see the whole world "RED"! So, if one is narcissistic then one can see God, other saintly people, as narcissistic. This is one kind of answer.

Another answer is, some people think of God as selfish, and that every MUST pray to God for their own benefit. In this sense God is selfish because, as per Old Scriptures of India this is one of the functions of God

"nityo nityanam, cetanas cetananam,
eko bahunam, yo vidadhati kaman" (katha, upanishad)

This verse has lot of meaning hidden in this. We are all living beings, and God is the Prime living being. The difference is this "One Prime Living Being is Supplying Food, needs, etc of all other Living Beings."

Example: Wheat, Grass for animals, Rice, Vegetables, etc. must come from LAND. No one can produce them in factories. What all our efficient economists can do is : take what ever is already existing "from land" , pack it nicely and sell in shopping malls, and then say "God is DEAD".

But scientists or economists cannot create any seed, which can create many other seeds. One of name of God in Old Indian Scriptures is "Apauruseya", or the one who has NO EQUAL OR greater. And that HIS Acts CANNOT BE IMITATED BY ANY other living beings.

Again, the questions comes up: Why should we pray to God? May be we should try to search out some good reasons, which I already presented above. God gives foods, takes care of the needs of WILD ANIMALS, who do not pray to HIM. God will any way, give all our needs even without asking them.

So, I say we should be grateful to God, and LOVE Him, for He is the maintainer of all living beings, be they HUMANS or animals or insects or ants in a hole of our house, etc.

And in India, some people love God, as if God is a family member, not exactly like "bad Supreme, who is autocratic, angry, RULER etc."

People need to pray for the same reason that they need to talk to others that they love. It's a way to keep in touch with God. He isn't narcissitic, He just wants to have conversations with His children, just like any other father. Peace.

It can be put this way: if you made yourself then you do not need God you are your own God. If a car made itself it would not need a manufacturer or a mechanic for repairs and servicing it would be able to self repair and self service - if it wanted to.

What is the thing that makes you get out of bed (if you can) or least you desire to get out of bed for - that is the very thing you trust in/pray to make work for you - that is your god or idol.

one needs to spell why does one need to pray? that's how you communicate with God , express your love to God and need for guidance or direction for some of lifes trails and tribulations it is a personal relationship with God and you talk to your friends dont you

It seems that this god creature is so vain and vindictive that if you do not stroke it's ego by worshiping it in a highly proscribed manner, it tortures you for eternity in everlasting fire. Now that sounds like a highly disturbed creature that is hardly worthy of worship or respect.
