First of all I want to say I am sorry about your friend.I am not an expert, but usually when colors are used for levels, red is bad. Light colors are usually good and the darker they get means it is not so good. Red probably means that your friend is at a high risk to actually carry out suicide.

Maybe you can reach your friend who has had several psychotic periods where the lower brain redirects ideas to wrong parts of the upper brain so logic is destroyed. Language is usually the first to be scrambled so talking to her is a problem if she miss-reads your meaning. Somewhere her friends showed her that she was an outcast socially and the stress was too much chemically for her brain.

well since red usually signifies danger. I would think it means shes at a critical stage, but better yet, why not ask the hospital what red level means? Im sure they can share that info with you.

I believe that most areas classify red level as warning level or being critical, and needing watched.
