I'm stuck at work and can not get out to get burn spray. Any ideas about what I can do to dull the pain? I work in a group home so I've got the normal house hold stuff here.

Hold it under cold running water.

Get a small glass of water - rest your finger in the cool (but not cold) water until the burning or painful sensation goes away. Otherwise, run your finger under copious quantities of cool, running tap water until the burning stops.

When you burn your skin, the burning continues until you stop the burning. Stay away from sticky burn creams if you can, and especially stay away from putting butter or moisturizer on it until it's been a couple days. If you put butter on the burn within the first day or so, it would be like frying the burned area (the burning continues until you stop it).

If you have continued pain for several days, make sure you check with your family doctor to make sure you have no infection. If there are blisters, don't pop them - keep them covered with a bandaid or other - your body will reabsorb the fluids all by itself.

For pain, you can also think about taking Tylenol or Acetaminophen. Stay away from Aspirin or Advil - they inhibit clotting - you want it to heal itself.

Sounds kinda gross, but from experience, I know this works. Easy way to dull burn pain is to apply hemorrhoid cream. It reduces pain and makes it atleast tolerable. Be warned, though, it doesn't wash off easily. Especially the creams.
