y is it ok for a jew to grow beard and he's repected for devoting himself to God, but when a muslim man does that he's automatically called a terrorist?

or

y is it ok for a nun to cover herself from head to toe and everybody respects her for devoting herself to God (even i respect her), but when a muslimah wears a hejab she automatically needs to be ''liberated?''

Part of this problem I am reading constantly is that everyone is claiming to be this or that or why you like and why you don't.
But the fact is, this only leads to separation not unification, and are we not ONE people under ONE God. There is no other way if we are to ever have peace. My testimony is this........ God is. period. and that all there is. Lets keep it simple.

I don't see why any kind of dress should necessarily mean a person has devoted themselves to God or not. Sometimes a sheep dresses in wolf clothing, you can't judge a book by its cover. You should know that these are all very superficial judgements people are making.

I am not sure what hejab is but if its just the head scarf, no worries - there is a purpose for it right? to make it so the woman does not become the object of many men's attention? I heard that Mohammed had his wives wear the scarf to show they were married. He was protecting them in this way. I think its a good idea. But not the full on heavy dresses in the dead heat of summer - thats not fair.

NICK L- The translations from the Quran are not accurate because just one sentence in the Quran can be expanded into couple of pages to get the exact meaning in english. Arabic is a language with a strong bond of words however english with the worlds largest vocabulary cannot explain it. So the translations are really summarised points. However for your information Islam does not teach rubbish many converts have actually studied various religions and believe Islam to be the best, and so what do you think of that?

USELESSADl...-First read the Quran read about Islam dont judge Islam from the Muslims but for the religion itself. Second why dont you research the 9/11 attack and see who is really behind it. And why is it ok for Bush and Blair to terrorise and steal but wrong for a small group of Muslims? INKTHEBRA...-I disagree with you, however yes i agree with the helmet thing but still its not an obligation for a women to wear the veil a Muslim wears it for protection, protection from men and just look at the rape rates and sex crimes. If every women wore the veil would the sex crimes go up stay the same or decrees, so i guess u misunderstanding why they wear the veil. Also the suicide bombers and terrorists are not seen as Muslims and why do you care about innocent people doing when it seems you haven’t considered helping the unfair trade or those doing in Africa because they haven’t even got clean water. Do you appreciate the food you get the bed you sleep in the family you have the clothes you wear the support you receive? And this is what Ramadhan is there for so that we can emphasise what people in the poorer countries are going through. Only about 1 or 2 % of Muslims commit such crimes but the mass media makes it out as if its all of us. Why is it ok for bush and blair to kills billions and it seems intense when one innocent person dies because of a “Islamic suicide bomber” I know its wrong but how is it that bush and blair can get away with it?

dear brothers & sisters, who are the non-muslims to decide what is wrong & what is good to Islam. Some rubbish persons have made remarks on muslims as terrorists. Then i think Mr.Bush is the biggest Terrorist of this world. He is blowing innocent people in Iraq. He is most wanted person for Muslims. You are debating for the sake of debating. The same weirdos who liberate women from Islam, liberate women from Christianity... from anything. They just don't liberate them from fat. Anyway, most of those liberators are dogs barking in the night. They will vote, and press petitions and show up on TV or Internet forums but will turn the other way and run if they see somebody agressed in the night.

Same goes for the beards. Orthodox Christians also have beards and are considered too 'retro'. The Jewish men are the only ones who escape this as they are too strong politically.

but I think this question is not for non Muslims it should be for Muslims.
The problem is muslims don’t defend them selves properly all the time they are behaving like defensive. They don’t dare to ask from those who asked them these questions. U r the first person who gave the answers in very calculated way.
I think all those who face this problem should follow u. the problem in all the Muslims is that they dont study and prepare a solid and answer with reasoning.
They started blushing if somebody ask them any question about their religion. I think they should cool their mind and start doing some research about their religion.

please let me clear somthing up.

The western faiths and no believers dont hate or dicriminate the way muslim women dress, but the have there face covered only there eyes showing, in this country i can walk into a bank or garage to pay for petrol with my motorbike helmet on, ever with the viser up showing my face, we are not allowed to wear ballclavas anymore, and yet woman are never asked to unvail the facial cloths.

if the asked just untill the left the bank then id be fine with it, but why should i have to remove everything from my head and reveil my face when muslim woman wont.

remeber nuns cover thier head but not there face.

as for the men with the beared, have you seen a muslim with out one? a born and bread muslim, and who says every single one is a terrorist, i dont, they are never acused of anythig they say what they think were saying and complain that everyone walks away from them, well yes lets think abouut this, terrorism is the fastest growin crime through out the world, mainly (not always!!) muslim extremist ( not always because they want too!!) are culprates, and in england we are having more and more scares every week. so dont i have the right to be safe no matter what anyone thinks, dont i have the right to walk away from what might be a potential terrorist??? or do have to spare all muslims felings just for them to kill and inisent child in a car bomb

It's lazy thinking of the highest and most terrifying order. Over here in the UK, there ahs recently been a big controversy over Muslim women wearing the veil - a leading Cabinet Minister said he was "uncomfortable" with Muslim women wearing veils when they came to see him, and the country went mad in his wake - young and old Muslim women were attacked on the streets, and their veils ripped off by men. One young teaching assistant was fired for refusing to remove the veil in the presence of male colleagues, and her appeal for unfair dismissal was denied after the Prime Minister himself said that veils socially excluded Muslim women.

It's very simple - some Islamic extremists dress a certain way. Whoop-de-doo. Some people who burn abortion doctors' houses down wear crosses. Some people shave their heads before kicking young black teenagers to death on the streets of London. Some people put on a business suit before they sell arms, bankrupt the third world or prepare to wage a brutal war.

That doesn't mean that ALL people who wear veils or beards are going to blow things up. It doesn't mean that all Christians are willing to kill to protect the unborn. It doesn't mean that all balding men are fascist thugs. And it doesn't mean that if you wear a business suit you're necessarily an evil, warmongering planetary rapist. I had hoped to grow old in a society that could appreciate the differences between extremists and the mass of humanity, and not jump to lazy, illogical conclusions. Evidently if the dumbed-down reaction of people in the 21st century is anything to go by, I am to be disappointed in humanity.

When a muslim man grows a beard I don't think he's a terrorist, my vicar has a beard too. And nuns choose to cover themselves, but they still leave their face showing.
Besides, I read in the paper that this muslim bloke was saying a woman who does not cover herself is just asking to be raped - you're in a civilised country now my dear, our men are not little raping animals, but english gentlemen (ish!).
