actually, rahl, that's exactly what is happening in southern Thailand - and it is Muslims doing the killing.

The Buddhists there have been remarkably even-keeled and forgiving about it!

It is thoughtful and contemplative whereas think about how Muslims are whipped up into a murderous frenzy at the least thing by their manipulative leaders, their response is a gut reaction. The head should rule the heart and the emotions if you want any kind of peace.

Buddhism is not the most peaceful religion.

Christianity is the most peaceful. No other religion teaches to love your enemy.

Regarding Christian denominations, the so-called "peace churches" - which include non-violence as a fundamental doctrine - are the Church of the Brethren, the Mennonites and the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).

Bahai is also a peaceful religion, with Islamic roots, though a distinct religion.

All of these definitely believe in God.

If one thinks that the Buddha is clean, bright and liberated and that sentient beings are dirty, dark and entangled in samsara, and, further, if one also uses this view to practice, then even though one perseveres through kalpas as numerous as the sand grains of the Ganges, one will not arrive at Bodhi. What exists for both Buddhas and for sentient beings, however, is the unconditioned Mind (Asamskrta citta) with nothing to attain. Many Ch'an students, not understanding the nature of this Mind, use the Mind to create Mind, thus grasping form and searching outside themselves.

define peace! it is what you feel on the inside not a 'live and let live attitude'. i am a christian and very peaceful because i know that my God loves me just the way i am. i can be my wretched self and he will still love me. how then can i not be peaceful?

actually Muslims are very peaceful, until you start bashing thier religion and killing thier children. try killing a budhist child right in front of his face while saying that he can never achieve the state of buddah. lets see how peaceful they are then.
