My cat is OK most days, but some days she drools so much it is literally dripping out of her mouth.

I'm worried she may be ill...

She is 7 months old, and is getting her new set of teeth, so it may be to do with that.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what causes this, and whether I should take her to the vets.

She is an indoor cat, and has had all her vaccinations.

Thanx in advance. ;-)

my cat drools, he's 2 yrs. old..sometimes he drools more when we're petting him...I think he's just content. Your kitten might be teething?

I knew a cat who used to drool every time he was happy. He was the cutest and cuddliest kitty, but no one would take him in his arms because he was so messy. Or we would put a towel or apron on and hold him and pet him, and he drooled and drooled... when he got old, he had a teeth problem, but I don't know if that had anything to do with his drooling. he drooled ever since he was young. Sorry I can't help any more, check with the vet because it could be anything else. I hope it;s just the new teeth growing, or too much happiness!!

I remember reading about cats drooling,,, when they taste something awful they drool... in that book there was a toad and that cat was drooling so much! I never saw my cat drool... you should take her to the vet just in case !

Some cats just slobber. I knew a 25 lb cat named Trouble who, as soon as her motor started, drooled you a river. Odd, but not unheard of.

my cat drools puddles in his sleep...the vet said it was nothing but i'd still talk to your vet just to make sure. the vet said it can mean kidney or liver problems but that's rare. some kitties are just slobber factories...
