How about the smooshy, stinky wet cat food? Will she eat that? Try mixing in some tuna, or even lunch meat, but then gradually reduce the non pet food. Thats what the vet suggested when my cat wouldn't eat after surgery.

That sucks. Hope everything works out for you and Kitty.

Stop giving her lunchmeat. She won't eat the cat food because she knows you will give her what she wants. She will get hungry enough and then she will start to eat the cat food. She is not going to let herself starve, so don't worry about that. And for her heart, you might want to go see a vet about that. They can give her some medicine and will probably tell you to get a special formula cat food.

I have the same problem with my Bengal kitten. She only wants human food. How old is your kitty?

Sometimes it takes tough love when it comes to what is best. My Bengal knows I usually give in every time I try to wean her off her human food. She knows I won't let her starve, so as soon as she drops a little weight, I' right back to giving her baked chicken and lean turkey lunch meat. I've started ixing her turkey in with canned food. I use Iams because it's best for her. She's starting to realize that she will eat it or go hungry. When she looks at me with her big amber eyes and begs, I hand her the cat food now. She's slowly coming around to it, but it's hard not to give into her.

Chances are your kitty will eat cat food if you take away her human food. She may whine and cry. SHe may try to steal food, but if you hold your ground, she'll eat what she should eat. Make sure the cat food is a high quality cat food such as Royal Canin or Iams. If your cat is overweight, try lite cat food. I don't recomend canned food if it can be avoided, but you may need to feed it. There is a canned cat food made with real shrimp and chicked. It's in a yellow plastic container and I think it's called something mixed grill, but I can't remember who it's made by. I think it might be Meow Mix.

Also, talk to your vet about a raw diet for your cat.

yeah, human food isn't good to be feeding to your cat all of the time. when my cats won't take medicine, i mix it in with their food. try chopping up the lunch meat in little pieces and MIXING it in with some wet cat food (the kind that comes in the can.) don't just dump it on top, you really have to mix it in. the cat is smart and will just eat the luchmeat off the top if you dont, haha! if this works, slowly start giving it less and less meat each time you feed it, and more cat food.

if that doesn't work, try weening into the cat food texture by giving it tuna. tuna in a cn is similar to luchmeat in the sense that it is pure meat and not a cat food. do the mixing thing and if you can get it to go to tuna, you should be able to get it to go to cat food from the tuna!

and if THAT doesn't work- i would try the mean way. only offer your cat the wet cat food. it may not eat anything for a day or even two or three. the cat usually won't STARVE itself though. they are smarter than that. eventually the cat should give in and eat the cat food.

also, talk to your vet!

** im pushing the wet food over the dry cat food because your feline is used to moist food over dry

No offense, but it sounds like spoiled cat. I saw a show and the way a dog was corrected was to eat with another dog around. To be social, the 'bad' dog, finally ate the dog food.
Any chance that your cat can somehow eat with other cats? A special request of the pound? of the vets?
After about 2-3 days, your cat should be corrected, they are very social animals. Your cat would not want to be left out of what all the other cats are getting.

Have you tried giving her canned cat food? Most cats can't turn that stuff down... Giving them human food is not a good idea. Stop giving her the lunch meat, and only give her cat food. She will eat it when she gets hungry enough. That's the only way you're going to break her from that. She knows that if she doesn't eat the cat food that she gets yummy lunch meat, so you need to change that. :) Good luck!

Maybe you can try putting a few pieces of lunch meat in with some canned cat food. She might smell the lunch meat and want to eat it. It's worth a shot.
