If another thousand years go by and the worse thing that happens is we are forced to wear sun block 5 trillion

do you think people will still be waiting for the end of the world as described in various religious books?And, more to the point, do you think after that much time has passed will they still believe in such things?

Yeah, I think people will always be thinking about the end of the world. All the time that has accumulated in the past wont deter man's fear and interest in his own demise.
