For 2 weeks now I have had what has felt like a lump in my throat, and it was hard to breath. I got short of breath, and even had some chest pains and some arm numbness. My dr. has no idea what it could be. He thought it could be something with my thyroid. I got blood tests done and a chest xray. At first he thought it could be anxiety. He put me on valium. That gave me violent shakes, so i stopped that and the dr. agreed. Now we're trying out asthma as the problem. He prescribed me an Advair inhaler, and an Albuterol inhaler. I havent taken the Advair inhaler yet, but I have started the Albuterol one. That seemed to have worked. The lump in my throat went away and I could breathe. But now, my arms are tingling and I feel dizzy when I'm laying down. (This is why I'm awake at 330am!) Every time I've fallen asleep, I've woken up not too much later, with tingling. The lump feels like its coming back and my heart rate feels like its up. What is this?!

First of all, how old are you, what's the state of your general health. Are you married, kids, etc, Lot's of things come into view here.
The doctor seems to be fishing. I would guess anxiety to start with. I'd treat you for this first. Valium, for simple anxiety?, sure the codeine probably had an effect on you, it does most people. It's a strong pain killer.

Probably, something like a no.10 Prozac and go from there. When you get an attack, breathe slowly and evenly into a brown bag, a smaller one. Lay down and relax. Try to think good thoughts, erase the thoughts that may have been upsetting you.

If all this doesn't work go see another doctor, one for internal medicine, tell him what the other doctor did.

Albuteral will make you "giddy" it does me, gives you a high that's a little unwanted for a few minutes. The advair is good if you have a little weezing and your a little stuffed up. It opens the airways.

The Albuterol will make some people blood pressure rise and that could be some of the symptoms you have when you use it! Be careful and I'd get second opinion if I were you. Hope this helps, and the best of health to you!

You need a better doctor!!!!!! Oh my, do make an appointment today! You maybe should go to the ER next time this happens because it soumnds like you have a blockage in your heart. This happened to my insurance man and he was lucky he was visiting someone at the hospital at that time because he was into a heart attack and didn't even know it. Oh God, I pray for you.
