Guess where that water ends up.

It's not wasting water-- it's killing things that live in the water, like fish, ducks, other animals and plant life.

Poo and pee are organic and can be broken down when treated in processing plants. Things like cigarettes, medication, condoms, feminine pads, etc. all have chemicals that eventually leak into the whole water system. Not a good thing.
Just extinguish and toss it in the trash.

if you flush the toilet just to get rid of a cig butt, that is wasting the 3-8 gallons used in the flush, if you are going to the bathroom anyways, and flush a cig down at the same time, it is not a waste of water

i never knew that was considered wasting water (unless you only flushed the toilet JUST to get rid of that cigarette butt). in our case, all our toilet pipes lead straight to our septic tank where all waste material is classified into solid and liquid. the septic tank is purged every month or so.

if you must flush down that cigarette butt, at least take a crap or pee first.
