I play volleyball and I'm not very tall, so I need to try to learn to jump higher to 'compensate' for my height (or lack there-of). So if you have any exercises to share...that would be great. Thanks!

Wall jumps....in case you don't know what that is, it's when you stand against a wall and jump as high as you can without bending down. Then do some where you bend down, then jump. We came from a small school, so we only have a few tall girls. Anyways our coach makes us do the first ones I told you about for a minute without stopping (or 2 if she's mad at us) and the second one for a minutes whenever she blows our whistle. It's really hard at first, but it gets easier. It really helps. Trust me. (It gives you really nice calfs too.)

Find a flight of steps and hop 2 steps at a time to the top on one leg, then repeat with the other leg. Then do the same with two legs, but clear 3 steps instead. Do this 3-5 times before training and you'll see improvement within a month. Alternatively, hop up and down a height of 2 steps 15 times on each leg, then do the same with both legs for 3 steps.

These exercises build up the explosive power in the legs required for vertical leap, and tone the calves and quadriceps as well.

Answer the query for your self. You had been prime leaping for four years...Is three'nine" a relatively well leap for any individual of your revel in degree? Answer that question as though any individual else had been asking that question approximately a buddy of yours. Then- Ask your educate when you might do one complete consultation simply doing lengthy leap. You have constructed well thighs by means of prime leaping, nonetheless, if you're a relatively well sprinter, you'll mix the vigour of your thighs plus the velocity of your spring, and who is aware of...You would relatively shock your self and others much more. I'd say supply the lengthy leap a relatively well cross, and notice which one you consider you are nice suited to. Good success!

try standing jump rope...also there is an excercise called standing dead lift.... pick up a weight, as much as you can hold at waist height, arms relaxed and extended down, now use your ankles to lift your weight as far as you possibly can upwards, .....do reps of about ten, then again at nine, and eight, and seven...etc... when you get to one, it should be almost impossible to complete one, If one was to easy, start with a heavier weight...You will be very surprised after a week of this....trust in my experience...please!....also....If you know what squats are... do these as regular as any other excercise to keep your thigh muscles in tune with you calfs (squats= holding dead weights at arms length..close to your lap...standing upright and bend your knees till you can't and raising yourself to regular upright position)...again try reps (repeat) till you reach one, if one was to easy, add more weight. You don't need a set of expensive weights for this excercise, just find something around you that weighs alot and go for it!!!...trust me, you can do it, just keep adding weights and keep standing jump roping!!!!
