The last of prophets in the order of time was Malachias.
Latin Vulgate
Douay-Rheims Bible
Second Epistle Of Saint Peter
Chapter 2
1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be among you lying teachers, who shall bring in sects of perdition, and deny the Lord who bought them: bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their riotousnesses, through whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you. Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their perdition slumbereth not. 4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but delivered them, drawn down by infernal ropes to the lower hell, unto torments, to be reserved unto judgment
11 Whereas angels who are greater in strength and power, bring not against themselves a railing judgment. 12 But these men, as irrational beasts, naturally tending to the snare and to destruction, blaspheming those things which they know not, shall perish in their corruption, 13 Receiving the reward of their injustice, counting for a pleasure the delights of a day: stains and spots, sporting themselves to excess, rioting in their feasts with you: 14 Having eyes full of adultery and of sin that ceaseth not: alluring unstable souls, having their heart exercised with covetousness, children of malediction

As with anything in life, divisions arise when there are two or more conflicting ideas. Christians know better than to consider Jesus their god because Jesus is not God. Jesus came on earth to do the will of his Father. Third, 83% is not 100%. If everyone followed the Bible and the counsel in it, there would be no terrorism. However, the scriptures say that "the scene of this world is changing." and that "the world is going from bad to worse." (See 1Corinthians 7:31; 2Timothy 3:13)
Everyone is not in harmony with the scriptural teachings. Instead, people twist the wordings and expressions used. People will say that the Bible is old-fashioned and yet don't know why there are divisions in the world. That answer is in the Bible. The problem is that people do not read nor think.

Due to the fact that its not the 83% of the bible,
its the other 17% of the New Testament they do not agree with.
They still believe eye for and eye,
When Jesus said turn the other check,
The Law of Moses, Or the Grace of God.
Jesus died for sin,
Muslims are still awaiting the King of Glory to come as a man,
When Satan comes they will follow him thinking he is the Christ.
So 17% of the bible, could mean a lot to people who believe in Jesus is the Christ.

I do not like to use the word "religion." For that is mans attempt in their best efforts to get right with God. Many different demoninations, or practices, that people follow that makes them feel like they can get in "good standing" with our creator. Thats why there are so many conflicts between these "religions" and people are fighting over it. Thats the result of tainting God's plan. We forget the reason Jesus came and died for us! He came so that we would have the true way back to the Father, and that He would establish the TRUE way of living. Thus, Christianity, which means Christ-like or little-Christ, is NOT a religion but merely the lifestyle of Christ that we are to replicate. Not by our own efforts, but made possible by the Holy Spirit in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Accept His Gift of salvation and experience the life of abundance. May the Lord Bless You Abundantly!!!

Christians and Muslims are similar in that they both pray to the God of Abraham... and that's roughly it. After the old testament, when everything that defines Christianity occurs, the two religions split off in ways that cannot be reconciled without both religions ceasing to exist.
'sides, you can't even get divisions within these religions to agree. Asking two completely different religions to agree is just, well... it ain't gonna happen. Period.

Christians believe the only way to get to heaven is through Jesus Christ. Muslims do not believe this.
Even if you think 83% of the two beliefs are the same, they are fundamentally opposites.

Don't you mean, why did Muhammad change the Bible? That's why there's not 1 religion for both. There was "1 religion" in terms of GOD's word until Muhammad decided to change it. Thus causing a division.

a) they are in fact different religions, and you can't simply smush them together and eliminate the bits that don't agree
b) they have histories....that's what shapes modern religion
c) people wrongly assume that THEIR religion is THE religion and everyone else is wrong/blasphemous/heathenistic. If people could approach religion as a means to understand the divine instead of using it as a means of defining themselves and their morality.
d) be prepared to get some pretty ugly responses!
don't know if I really answered your question...haha
