Are you currently taking any prescription medication? If so, have you advised your physician that you are retaining fluid (swollen feet, legs, arms, hands)?
If you are not currently taking any prescription medication that would cause a side effect of water retention, you may have too much salt in your diet. Sodium retains fluid. Drinking more liquids will help; cutting back on sodium (salt) will help; eating foods with natural diuretics will help. I learned that caffeine and chocolate both are natural diuretics. When I drink regular coffee or tea, I do NOT take my prescribed diuretic (HCTZ).
Green tea is a natural diuretiac, too. Asparagus is one, cucumbers... see this website: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=567628

No salt diet will help alot.
I dont think is a good risk to take drug to reduce water retention just for looks.
diuretics lowers the water retention in the blood, but there are possible side affects. It can concentrate Uric Acid in your joints and is very painfull, it just happen to me.
There are very powerfull drugs that can do more, but usually is only giving to lower the blood volume to make it easier for the heart to pump at a lower pressure. The side affects are somtimes very bad. It is a good risk if your blood pressure is too high.
Talk with your doctor if you like, but taking drug to look better is never a good idea, unless there is somthing you didnt tell me.

What?! Kayexalate is for hyperkalemia not water retention. An RN? incredibly? that's uncomplicated nurse stuff. Loop-diuretics are prescribed for hepatitis sufferers. Lasix (furosemide) is physically powerful even though it demands a potassium supplement if that is going for use on a prevalent foundation. yet another loop-diuretic is Bumex (bumetanide). there is likewise Edacrin (ethacrynic acid). yet in addition ask your well being care provider approximately thiazide diuretics and potassium-sparing diurectics.

I'm sure that there are OTC diuretics you can take and there are a bunch of prescribed drugs that work. Hydrochlorothyizide is one. You can also take two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water once a day, or eat a lot of apples. Both are natural diuretics.
