Here is Billy Graham's take on that subject, according to Newsweek:
Jon Meacham. Pilgrim’s Progress http://msnbc.msn.com/id/14204483/
Newsweek. August 14, 2006 issue
"In the twilight, Billy Graham shares what he's learned in reflecting on politics and Scripture, old age and death, mysteries and moderation. A NEWSWEEK exclusive."...
"The new interviews with NEWSWEEK, however, reveal a more intriguing figure than either his followers or his critics might assume. He is an evangelist still unequivocally committed to the Gospel, but increasingly thinks God's ways and means are veiled from human eyes and wrapped in mystery. "There are many things that I don't understand," he says. He does not believe that Christians need to take every verse of the Bible literally; "sincere Christians," he says, "can disagree about the details of Scripture and theology—absolutely."
[The Bible was written, inspired by God, so people could understand Him. Often, a metaphoric style was used as was very common in the Jewish culture.
The Bible does, nontheless, include many historic facts and events.
The message of the Bible is as relevant today as it was in biblical times. sic]

The only brainwashing is that the COMPLETE Bible is for everyone.
The First part of Genesis is the History of the making of the Physical universe. then it switches to the making of one Branch of the Human race called Israelites.
Then switches again to the outside world when they are evicted from the Garden and meet other tribes outside of the garden . Who made these people and how long had they been around before then. And back again to the race now called Jewish.

Wow, you have listened to Satan well in your spirit in your thoughts.
You mind thinks on this a lot I see,
Your thoughts have convinced you there is no such thing as God, or His creation,
What about the child long ago, who would call up to the sky, and talk to a God, and try to play with birds. An fly and dream of flying.
Wow, God held you tight before your birth, and said he loved you, and asked you to find your way home to him.
Satan has caused you to hate everything about God,
The fact is,
The bible has to be read with red blood, Jesus blood aplied over our eyes in order to understand it, brainwashed,
how do you explain my heart that feels him and bows to my knees in his presents, how do explain the tears that flow off my face, when I feel his hand on my soul. How do you explain when I get up I do not hurt any more. I can laugh, and talk with no worries of who is in the room. It takes more then a open mind,
It takes a open heart, one that's been opened by God.
Sorry you hurt, sorry your alone.
But you have had a encounter with God, you just do not remember it, the memory even in your soul has been erased. now your brainwashed, and sick, that is fact.
My mind, my soul, my body, found God first, then the bible.

If you are trying to goad me into something, I'm afraid I will disappoint you.
Your post sounds like a very closed minded person since you unfortunately have already made up your mind about all Christians.
All I can tell you is that this book that you disagree with has a lot of relevant answers for today. I have no idea if any other book can stand that test of time.

You are correct, if the Bible was proven as "fact" then you would be a fool not to believe it. It takes faith to believe in the Bible. But just as it takes faith to believe in the Bible, it takes faith to believe in anything...
On the other hand, the Bible has never been proven false.
I believe that the Bible is the Word of God 100%. Although this is how I feel, I can see why people reject it. Not because I see anything wrong with God's Word, but because they lack the faith.
A lot of times, the Bible is claimed to be proven true/false with science, but science lacks the ability to prove it wrong/right.

Do not call anyone openminded if you are not openminded yourself. I am not saying that I believe in the inerrancy of the Bible or not, thats beside the point. If you wish Christians to be able to understand your point of view then you need to understand theirs also. Their belief in the inerrancy of the Bible has not injured you whether you buy into it or not. The 'decency of understanding' that you speak of involves true understanding not telling someone that they are wrong. Your post is in the opposite direction of anything openminded.

Mr M, are you drunk and angry? Have you lost all answers for your questions? Did a Christian offend you to make you so intoxicated with stupidity? We Are all alike, we Are all sinners, it is just the way you choose to live your life that makes you feel different.
I will pray that you find comfort in your heart and overcome the ignorance you spew.
Try reading the Word, with out judging it and others.

You are so angry. So what if people are brainwashed and sick. Are you also getting sick and brainwashed because they say the Bible is fact. I say there is a lot of truth and there fore the Bible is factual
