Lets say you were given a vision of what Heaven looked like. How can you describe this to other people without using familiar things from earth?

The description of Heaven in the Bible uses earthly things to try to explain what it is like.

Our earthly bodies do not go to heaven, it is our souls. Heaven can not be in our minds.

heaven is human imagination for Good - which stays as imagination in mind, till one finds a way of realizing it.

when one sees that one can't realize that Good (or Heaven) while living - one projects it to after-life. If one's understanding of what's good is related with sensory pleasures - then Heaven for him is the place replete with that. If one realizes the truth of existence being manifested as co-existence at all levels - then one lives in heaven - carrying out the values which are humane, which lead to one's happiness.

Living in values is heaven. Living without values is hell.

Depends on who you ask and when you ask it. Religious people can be very mysterious about this kind of thing. The line between actual things, real things and spiritual things can get mighty blurry in some believer's minds.

It is a real place, not a place of the mind.
1Cor:2:9 However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has concieved what God has prepared for those who love him."

You are speaking of a phrase which were made by men... and so it is of the mind.....

The mind, itself, is constantly in motion... be it asleep, it is dreaming, or awake, it is taking in the experience of life......

The phrase refers to the sublime or surreal attribute of life... a dream like atmosphere.....
