The fever may be from the teething or he may have a cold. Either way, you can give him a lukewarm, cool, NOT COLD bath. A cold bath could possibly put him into shock. Try giving him Motrin if he can't handle the Tylenol and do not give him milk. What method did you use to take his temp? As long as his fever is going down and does not go over what it was, then waiting until he sees the doctor is fine. Just keep a close eye on him. You may even try putting cool clothes on him, just a t shirt and a diaper would be good. Hope this helps!

Having a fever that is lower then 102 is ok. If it gets higher then that take him to the ER immediatly. If you take him in before that they won't do anything for him. It could all possibly be from him teething. His nose running like that could just mean he has a cold and a doctor will not do anything for a cold. They will tell you it has to run it's course. If you find that he is getting stopped up in the night you can try using a cool mist humidifer, or turning your shower on as hot as it will get and have him sit in there for about 15 mins at a time that will help open him up. I have found that if tylenol doesn't work with the fever you can try alternating tylenol and children's or infants motrin ever 4-6 hours. He could possibly be throwing up do to the mucos running down the back of his throat. It will cause them to gag and the only natural response to that is stuff will come up with it.
Take his good mood as a good sign. Although some children will run around as if nothing is wrong with them...it just depends on the child. Hope some of this helps. Happy Birthday to your little one. Also one more thing www.webmd.com is a great source for your concerns.

Sounds like a sinus infection. All the nose running from the teething can cause a sinus infection (babies can't blow the stuff out, so it sits there and festers), which can cause the fever, greenish nasal discharge, and vomiting due to post nasal drip(all that snot on the sensitive tummy). The Tylenol on that tummy won't help, either. Teething in and of itself doens't cause a fever, no matter WHAT people say. Fevers are caused by infections. Period. And, while 102 is high, it's not dangerous. If his temp gets to 104, then call the Emergency Room. The only reason you have for taking him the ER at this point is if you you don't have insurance and have to use public health services, and you don't seem to fit into that category.
Try to keep him hydrated, use cool compresses on the forehead and body to ease the fever discomfort, and keep his head elevated slightly to ease the nasal discharge running down his throat. A little Vicks VapoRub will help him breathe easier at night so he can get some rest. His being in a good mood is a good sign that he doesn't feel as bad as he looks.
Happy Birthday, Sweetie! Sorry you're sick!

Hi there! So sorry you're little man is not feeling well. My son is 13 months old and is just getting over the flu. My suggestions to you would be:
Give him a lukewarm bath.
Give as much as he wants to drink (water or Pedialyte or juice mixed with water), no milk or formula though. If he is formula fed, switch to Pedialyte until he has gone 12 or more hours without throwing up. Popsicles work great to get fluids into your child, too. Keeping him hydrated is very important.
If his temperature goes back up, I would take him to the emergency room. I would err on the side of caution. The doctors and nurses are very understanding when it comes to children and especially first time parents.
Tip for next time: When he can't keep Tylenol down orally, they make Tylenol in suppository form. A doctor told me about them when I had my son in the ER. I always keep some on hand for just such a situation. You get them over the counter at the pharmacy.
I hope that your son will be feeling better soon. Relax and take a deep breath...You're doing a great job!! Good luck to you both!!

My kids used to throw up liquid Tylenol, and Tylenol makes me a little nauseous; so that's one issue.
His fever is another issue. Since he won't keep down the Tylenol, watch him until you get him to a doctor. Babies can have febrile seizures if their fever goes too high too quickly. So stay up and watch him.
I've been told (or read, I forget) that if there is white mucous it means there is an infection. When the mucous turns green it means there was an infection and this is the old stuff that is clearing out.
Make sure his diapers get still getting wet if he's been throwing up, although doing that three times (rather than all day long) and not having diarrhea would make dehydration less of a worry).
When they're fevering they don't act well (as you know), but sometimes they're just kind of cranky while other times they'll get so they're clearly very, very, fevery and very sick. If he gets so he's looking too sick and lethargic and "off" get him to a doctor tonight.
If, by any chance, he sounds at all croupy in the night get him to a hospital immediately. (I just comment on this in case his fever turns into something croupy rather than just being a fever.)

A fever is the body's reaction to a bacterial infection. Bacteria have a very small range of temperatures they can grow at. The body is raising the temperature to fight off the bacteria. By giving him Tylenol, you are taking down the fever and thus stifling the body's natural defense against the bacteria. Do not try to take the fever down, but do monitor it. If it reaches 104 or if he becomes lethargic, take him to the hospital immediately. But as long as his condition stays the same, just watch him and take him to the doctor in the morning.

Lower the tylenol dose. If he still throws it up, use Motrin instead. Sometimes, a dose could be too strong and cause them to vomit. Next, make sure he stays warm. Its most likely just a sinus infection. They'll give you some medicine when you go to the doctor that will clear up the sinus mess.
Give him extra comfort and make sure you keep pumping liquids into him. You want him to stay hydrated. Otherwise, you're doing a great job. And there's nothing to worry about, this kind of stuff happens.

If he can't handle the Tylenol then you should put him in the bath tub and give him something cool to drink or something like a teething ring. Make sure he gets plenty of fluids especially with him throwing up and with a fever. Hope he gets better.

He's probably just teething. Since you can't get him to keep down the Tylenol, have you tried Baby Anbasol or Baby Numzit? Just rub it on his gums where the new tooth is coming in. You can also give him a wet washcloth that has been in the freezer for a bit and let him chew on it.
Good luck!

just watch him through the night and get him to the doctor in the morning as running high fevers is bad for children...harmful to the brain. if U really feel U need to and the fever is not breaking...soak him in a tub or luke warm/body temp water (test with wrist s U did for bottles). That will help break fever for a little while. But do get him to the doctor in the morning...that is if he still has that high fever.
