Yes it is frequent, even more so when your in a leadership position. He'll be there, don't worry and hopefully not too long from now either! Give him a big welcome, he will love ya for it!

They probably changed the date because he couldn't get a flight out of Iraq or Kuwait. Dates are never certain in the military, especially concerning coming and going from Iraq. Both times my husband has come home on mid-tour leave he has called me from another airport on the way and told me what time to go get him. Until then, I never knew what day it would be. My neighbor's husband was supposed to be home on July 4th this year, he called her that day - still in Kuwait. He sat there another week waiting on a flight. It all just depends on what is going on over there and if there are higher priorities for the planes. He will call you and let you know as soon as he can, I'm sure. I wouldn't get my hopes up until he calls from Europe or a US airport, though, because until he's actually on a plane out of Kuwait I wouldn't trust a date. Enjoy having your soldier home!

Hi there!!

My husband is active duty military, too---he's in the Army. He was deployed to Iraq from January to August and they must have changed the date of his deployment and homecoming at least 15 times. Unfortunately with the situation overseas it's hard for the military to give a definite date without the possibility of it changing. Also, the Air Force is responsible for transporting soldiers to and from war zones and complications arise more often than not. Anything from technical issues with the planes to changed schedules of the pilots.

All I can really tell you from experience is to not take any dates or times to heart until he is in the United States and you get word from him directly or someone who has had direct contact with his unit has contacted you. It was so hard having the dates changed when my husband was supposed to come home, so I totally know how you feel----but when he gets off the plane and is in your arms all the waiting and stressing is completely gone!! Good luck to you and thank your boyfriend for us for serving this country! Thanks to you as well, for being his support system while he's overseas, you keep him going every day and you're the reason he's making it through!! :)

This is very common Each unit can only send a percentage of their unit on leave at the same time so what probably happened is someone who was planing on going on leave at a different time had to go home for an emergency (death in the family) and it messed up the numbers so your BF will probably go when that Soldier was supposed to go unless he can work something else later.

happens all the time. Any number of reasons why it has been changed. just be aware that it might not happen at all.

I don't know why they would but I have heard that it is happening not infrequently. Check with his parents.
