If so what is the nature of these prayers? And does that give man a clue as to what man should really be aspiring for?

If a man is not in need of anything, then what should his prayer constitute?

God answers prayers from a humble heart that earnestly seeks to know him. And the humble and earnest heart prays to know God, not for any special favors for itself.

The prayers that God answers are those that align with his will.

I seek God's will when I pray. Once God's will is revealed to me, then I ask God for the strength to carry out his will for my life.

Man is in need of mercy from God. Once a person accepts God's gift of mercy through his Son, the person becomes in need of God's will, God's strength, God's guidance, and God's justice.

Seek to know God in your prayers, and more will be revealed to you.

God is not a "genie" and his job description doesn't include granting gifts just because you ask.

The prayer that God will SINCERELY ANSWER is the prayer of "Gods will be done". Jesus in the garden, a few hours before he died prayed this.

If a person has everything they want in life, then they should give a prayer of thanksgiving, a sincere "Thank You" would only seem appropriate right?

God ALWAYS answers prayers. It may not be the answer you want at the time you want but he ALWAYS answers. I have prayed for years for something and God keeps telling me "WAIT" so I wait..God never said pray to me and I will give you everything you want at the time you want it. Everything comes in his time not ours...he knows what's best for us..he can see the future..we can't

Maybe He answers them all, we just dont realize it. You may ask the gods for one thing, but they may give you another. We dont always know what is best for ourselves and God may be doing you a favor by not answering your prayer in the way you have requested.

[a] Who says God is a genie?
[b] You next question is an oxymoron.
[c] Ergo, the one after that is negated.
[d] To the next question, I don't think so.
[e] Finally, for the sake of Praying. Like Ars gratia Artis.

my youth leader taught us to, "never stop praying for what you want" but yes, god chooses good natured ones over selfish ones.

lets say your nervous, sad, sick and you wish to feel better, he will definitely answer you prayer, but you have to make a definite request, with the belief that you know he will help you.

In Matthew 7:7 Jesus says:

Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Looks like all prayers are accounted for. Let's get together and pray for cancer to be cured. Think it will happen?
