Job

But at the end God gives Job, DOUBLE ,of what he had/lost...cool!

Bit by bit, Job loses his family and possessions, his health, and his sanity as his wise friends explain to him, over and over again that it must have been something he did that caused him all this bad luck. (This is known by some as the Deuteronomic theory: Good is rewarded, evil is punished. The wager is to determine whether this notion is in fact backwards: Is Job good only because he is so blessed?) Job stubbornly insists on his innocence and even confronts God, whose only answer is, "you're too small and ignorant to understand," but makes it up to Job by giving him brand new herds and flocks, brand new housing and even a brand new family to replace his old, dead one. Not a perfect ending but at least a happy one.

Job...and God doesn't ruin his life. God said that the Devil could do whatever he wanted to Job except kill him.

The Book of Job.....

Good story...

He didn't destroy the man, he built him up..... Devil wanted to prove that he could cause a man to lose faith in the Father.... So, God knew Job's heart and said okay.....

Imagine the devil who must've looked like a true fool when all his attempts did nothing......

Even had the man's wife saying, "Curse God and die!"..... She was tired of seeing him suffer.....

His friends thought he did something against God and so tried to reason with him......

But, in all his loss, he gained 10x what he once had.....

Now imagine his wife!!!

The Book of Job.

the story of Job, that was edited from a more ancient story, tells about the way god allows a faithful man to be tortures, his children killed, his property taken and his skin covered some form of disease.

Job. How nice of god to let him be treated that way, just to prove a point to the devil....

Christianity sucks.

*Chuckles* I suppose you could call it a wager. Its the book of Job in the Old Testament. Essentially satans goofing off on earth, he stands before God and God says "Hey Jerk, look at my man Job! He loves me!" Satan gets riled "Yeah, no kidding- you give him everything, you protect him, you've built a hedge around him- I can't even touch him!! I bet I can get him to curse you". God thinks a moment,,,,"All right, bring it on satan! You can do anything to my man Job EXCEPT you can't touch him"

Now Job was very very rich. Within a period of like 15 minutes Job loses his 10 kids (satan kills them), all of his livestock, all of his crops, all of his servants.

Job thinks a moment, goes outside, tears his clothes, throws dirt and ash on his head, and he doesn't say anyting. Jobs 3 best friends come up, they put ashes and dust on their heads, and nobody says anything for a week- except Jobs wife who says "Curse God! And be done with it!"

Few days later satans before God- "Hey, Ugly- you see my man Job? You darn near killed him but he is still loyal to me!" Satan thinks a moment,,,,"Yeah- well I bet if I hurt his body bad enough he'll curse you!" So God lets satan cover Job in boils, Job takes a broken piece of pottery and starts cutting the boils to drain the pus out.

Jobs friends watch this, and after a week, Job finally says "I curse the day I was born, may no light shine on my body, it rained and stormed, and curse she who bore me. Better it is for me to never have been born for then I would never have been this bad off!"

Jobs friends, each one of them in turn, starting out with his oldest friend accuses Job of sinning. Some kind of hidden sin, something he hasn't asked for forgiveness of. Jobe denys that he has sinned.

Finally, around the 30th chapter, God shows up, as a wirlwind/tornadio. God and Job talk,,,mostly God talks, and Job apologises for his sin. God never answers Jobs quesiton of why he allowed satan to ruin his life. God tells Job to make some sacrifices to appease Gods anger at Jobs friends- God is pissed that Job is falsely being accused and he's pissed for a few other reasons.

Interesting to note, that in the very end Job is given twice as much goods as he had before- new kids, new livestock, etc..

Now, I've written the story in a very pharaprased way- I strongly encourgage you read it for yourself
