yeah, it's "ella es muerta." esta with an accent mark over the "a" can be used for "is," but in spanish, the english "be" has two forms: ser and estar. "es" which is a form of ser is mainly used for permanent things like identity (dead), occupation, origin, or time. Estar is used for things like location, health, well-being and other stuff. and yeah, the "a" at the end is for the feminine form.

Yes, however, she can be alive and pronounced "dead to the world" or '"muerta" if she has had to much to drink and has passed out. If she has been sleeping thru lots of noice, you might, also, say she is "muerta". With an "o" at the end, indicates a male.
