Im trying to get back to my normal weight, gained 20 lbs by eating very unhealthy University food which is high in calories and sodium. I figure that once I loose this weight, and eat normal, to maintain.

It definitely works I've been doing it for the past 6 months and I've lost 70 lbs. Unless you are extremely dedicated, chances are you're not going to eat only 600 cals every day. I think the main reason docs don't recommend it is because the weight doesn't really stay off when you burn it that way. I did it because I'm going into the navy and wanted to lose weight quick. I didn't have any poor health side affects though...actually quite the opposite. I also run at least a mile a day and i think if it were unhealthy i wouldn't be able to do that. I feel better now then ever. Everyone's different. Try it for a week, if you feel poorly at the end of the week don't keep doing it. It wont kill you.

Horrible idea. You should cut back 500 calories a day, or exercise 500 a day, but not EAT 500 a day.

First, you've got the wrong idea here. A "Diet" isn't something you "do" until you're "done". It is a change of lifestyle, where you learn to eat foods that fill you up but don't give you more calories than you burn off. It also means that you start burning off more calories by exercising 2-3-4 times a week.

Second, if you do a crash weight loss, it will all come back plus a few pounds.

Why?

Because you didn't do the "lifestyle change" thing above.

And, because your body becomes primed for weight gain, thinking that your must live in a place where food runs out once in a while. The body demands that you eat more, which you do, and you store the excess very quickly in an ever-increasing number of fat cells (which never go away again).

Horrible idea.

Worse yet, you'll be doing this in the second half of the semester, when you're gonna need proper nutruition to stay healthy so you can pass finals and write papers.

Did I mention that it was an awful idea?

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://tinyurl.im/aHLtm

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

I don't think you're going to have the energy to maintain the Tae Bo workout program with calories that low.
Double those calories.
Don't just TRY for 64 oz. of water, GET there and it would be better to exceed that.
Other than that, I think you have a good plan - well-balanced for the most part but short on calories.
Your determination is admirable - and I wish you the very best - but taking the pounds off quickly is usually a recipe for seeing them come creeping back.

If you're going to do it, then make sure you take a good multi-vitamin along with it and don't do it for more than seven days. I honestly don't think you'll have the strength to exercise on 500-600 calories per day.

Doctors don't advice it - a diet of about 1000 - 1200 calories is good.

So, I have been dieting for years. I didn't succeed until I learned that my body requires calories to burn fat. If you limit your food intake severely, your body will think its starving and store that chicken salad and yogurt as FAT, because it doesn't know when it is going to get more food. Your body needs constant food. As a rule, you should not drop below 1200 cal per day, and if you want to lose wieght, eat 5-6 times a day - even if it is a handful of nuts, a carrot, or a piece of fruit.
