My girl said her parents are nice by nature, but I am afraid that her mom won't like me because of my lifestyle, hobbies and interests. How come? You may look at my profile for you to see. Her mom's a countryside lady so she's not used to getting along with urban people like me, and she might as well be a bit fuzzy about face value. This bothers me because I'm not the average kind of guy she's expecting from her girl. I have long, black, straight hair, I'm tall but a bit skinny and pale-complexioned -- just the right look for a rocker. I'm feeling a bit nervous about this because they might not like me for their daughter but I still want to hit on them so that I can get a deep know of them. I want to be the natural guy I am and don't want to woo them in hypocrisy and hard-trying. Can somebody out there give me some pointers on how to approach to kind of situation? I really need your help guys, so please, NO PREACHINGS.
10 points for the best answer. Thanks in advance, guys! ^_^

Yeah, that was my plan... be myself. I've already thought of that before, and now I've really decided not to be a hypocritical piece of trash in front of them. I hope you will also see this one, as well as edit your answers for a better bunch of options.

Yeah, I may have long, black, straight hair, and a 100% rocker physique, but I'm still hygienic, guys. I don't have piercings nor do I have tattoos around my body. I can carry out semi-formal outfits, but i don't know if that day is right one for me to dress up that way. Weird, eh? HELP WANTED!!!

To Road Warrior:
Nope, her mom hasn't seen any pictures of me yet. She just describes to her mom how I look and I don't think that's enough. Not even my attitude, good traits, achievements, and talents (if there really are any, haha!) would count up to impressing her sans acquaintances. That's what I'm really worried about.

if the mom is a country mom then it's safe to be your self most country moms have already learned one way or the other not judge a person with out all the facts. Its the father you need to impress but as long as you can prove you're a "real" man and you are only looking out for his daughters best interest you should be fine. mom's only worried about whether or not her daughter is happy with you. be kind and offer your help with things like clearing the table ect.

Try to relax and just be the person you really are. Obviously there are some good qualities that caused this girl to want to be with you. It would be nice if her parents liked and accepted you but if they don't there's nothing you can do to change their hearts except to treat their daughter with kindness and respect. Either way, your important relationship is between you and the girl, not you and her parents. Expect things to work out well because I have a feeling they will, especially when they really get to know you better.

Its always best to be yourself. A good thing to do besides that is be respectful. Whatever you say or do, make sure it does not disrespect them in any way. Even though you may not be the guy they want for their daughter, I'm sure they will appreciate the fact that you're respectful. And be really nice and smile alot. Win them over with your charm. Good luck! And remember, even if the parents don't like you, its more important that your gf does.

Be yourself, first and foremost.
Haven't they ever seen pictures of you, or hasn't your girlfriend at some time described you to them? Check with her. You may be worried over nothing.
Don't judge how her parents are going to react without knowing them better. Maybe the last thing they want for their daughter is some "rural type".
Again, just be yourself - nothing more, nothing less. If they don't like you at first, don't worry about it. Parents tend to get pretty protective of their daughters, so it may take a little time for them - no matter what you look like.

It's kind of like Football. You have to play good defense. Play conservative. Better to err on the side of too wimpy than too strong. Try to find something you have in common first. If they ask you about a controversial topic go for the conservative, most diplomatic answer. For example, "Who did you vote for president?" With a chuckle you reply, "The best candidate."
Don't be someone you aren't, but also dont accentuate certain parts they may not find agreeable.

Well, first impression does count, so i guess you shud tidy yourself up when you meet them. If you do have tatoos - wear some long sleeve shirt to cover them up. Bring some fruits or ice cream for the family and be polite. Thank you and please would be approriate. Show that you are a responsible person although you're a rocker. And finally, remember that honesty is the best policy.

Really just be yourself if you try to act like someone your not parents will se right through it. You must just show them that you really care for their daughter and she means the world to you
if you are a stable working stiff or even a student parents mainly wan't someone that is going to be able to care for the child and grandchildren in the future. So really be yourself buy the mom some flowers to break the ice and maybe get the dad a botlle of his favorite liquor or a case of beer ask your GF what he likes
small gifts will tend to break the ice and show them that you were antipating the meeting of each other. I can't stress the be yourself
some more parents are extremely intuitive when it comes to people their children hang out with or date. I hope this helps and good luck in my case I really adore my in-laws and they like me too so I hope this brings you closer to your GF and enriches your life and hers. GOOD LOCK GOD BLESS.

Be yourself... and be polite
If they don't like you, then it only matters that your girl likes you.
Don't think about it too much.. play it by ear.
I bet all will be fine.

Make sure you dress nicely. By that, I don't mean you necessarily have to change your look to khakis and a dress shirt, but make sure your shirt and jeans are clean and try not to have anything that could be offense on your shirt (nude girls, curse words, etc.) Be polite, nice and respectful.
