What are some side-effects of drinking a bunch of energy drinks, over an extended period of time?

It's hard on your heart to keep it that stimulated, so you could get irregular heart beats. Also, the build up of caffein can cause headaches and you will most likely have a hard time sleeping. Energy drinks are ok occasionally, but I believe we as a society are abusing them. They can cause death if taken in large quantities while you are doing strenuous excercises. Especially in the heat.

Well energy drinks have a lot of caffeine. The only glaring side effect of caffeine, besides being addictive, is that it affects short term memory.

My brother and I were experimenting to see what would happen if you had drank energy drinks with power bars. So we drank a Red bull, some brand of energy drink, a double shot-by Starbucks, ate a power bar and drank lots of water trough out the day and I was wired. I was all hyper alert and like a kid who needed to take his Ritalin. I was talking a lot and all happy. It gives you a little buzz.

well, just 2 instead of 1 cup of coffee one day during the exam period made my heart beat so fast, I was almost scared I'ld suddenly collapse or something

JUst think of the effects of an over-consumption of caffeine and sugar.
