Ladies and gentlemen, this is in response to the harrassing comment from PETA and vegans that we, as hunters, receive. The only reason for them to read any of these questions is to harrass us. Coorperations, government, and the general public has been bullied by PETA and other animal rights activist for too long. I WILL NOT BE BULLIED! Stand up for something, or loose it all. Report harrassment!
I assure you that PETA and vegans are trying to shut down the "Hunting" section of Answers...and if we set back and let them, they will do it.
Vegans, PETA. I do not agree with your beliefs, but I respect them enough not to harrass you about them. You have no reason to be here except to harrass, insult, and push your beliefs on others. This is unacceptable. We, as a group, do more to help nature in a year than most of you do in your lifetime. And we do not tolerate terrorist, as PETA does. See ALF.
Leave us alone. I'm standing, Ladies and gentlemen, who will stand with me?

PETA president Ingrid Newkirk complained that actually taking care of animals costs more than killing them. "We could become a no-kill shelter immediately," she admitted.

Now think about his
In 1973 were only 1.3 million wild turkeys in this country, and only about 1.5 million turkey hunters. Now, in 2006, there are more than 7 million turkeys, with around 3 million turkey hunters. Peta did not do that, for that you can thank The National Wild Turkey Federation.
While you're at it, do some research at http://www.ducks.org/
Did you know that hunters in the state of missouri voted in a tax, that would only be applied to certain types of hunting equipment, that would be used only to preserve wildlife? Others have followed suit.

Oh, and concerning the conspiracy theory comment below...
I'm assuming that statement is directed at the first few lines of my post.
I don't do conspiracy theories. Those, my friend, are facts. It's not like those people that believe the towers were distroyed by the government, or those that believe JFK was killed by the mob...these are not beliefs that I have based on a few pieces of odd evidence...those are straight up, open to the public facts, not something I pulled out of my butt, but actually happened.
As far as PETA-ers trying to shut down the "hunting" section of Yahoo! answers...
Believe me, the kind of people that will steal hunting dogs, damage vehicles belonging to hunters, attack hunters, destroy property belonging to hunters, and stake out grade schools handing out pamplets to school children that say "Your Mommy Kills Animals!" in letters dripping with blood, and a sketch of a woman stabbing a live rabbit to death---can you tell me anything they WON'T do?

PETA, ALF, MONKEYS FOR LIFE... whatever you want to call them. lalala..
i for one am an avid hunter. Have been since the age of 6. got almost 23 years under the belt. And eventhough Peta and all animal rights group have the right to voice their opions. I do not agree.
The problem is the violent ways in which they do things gains them public notrietory. Which us hunters being the "TRUE" animal lovers have to deal with:
Question PETA: Why did you stand for the killing of thousands if not millions of stray cats, and dogs? Then tossed their carcass in a dumpster later to be found by children? You people claim to stand for animals rights. You people claim for the better good? Outlaw hunting and those deer, turkeys, rabbits, you name it. Will be in your backyard feeding and consuming every "organic" vegetable you have in your PETA garden. And do not leave your Tofu in the car. Raccoons love tofu for some reason.
So maybe lets "all just get along". I do not go into the veggie section of this forum and bash you for Killing plants. So do not come here and bash me for keeping the animals I love in check.
thanks

I hereby join your ranks. Do not allow uneducated tree-huggers to do your thinking or set policy. Hunters and fishermen do more for the environment than PETA ever will. Have been hunting various critters for more than 40 years and have had a couple of experiences with PETA. They tried to disrupt a depredation hunt in which each tag was for 2 antlerless deer (does). To reduce population pressure in a limited area. The hunters all showed up at the proper time (hour or so before sunrise) and walked to their stands. About 10 PETA showed up about 2 hours later with their noisemakers and video cameras. They moved into the timber with their noisemakers and actually drove some deer right to the waiting hunters. Misguided and not too smart.

I have a story to add here. One day I was at home when three women showed up at my door. (I say women, the youngest was probably 13 the oldest 20) They were canvasing for PETA. I allowed them to tell me all that they knew. Then I systematically rebutted all of their points with logical, factual debates. I proved several of the things in their pamphlet were false and based on propaganda. When I was done at least two of them had changed their stance. They had been fooled into believing that they were fighting for a just cause. Ladies and Gentlemen let me tell you most of these people are too ignorant to know any better. We must fight them with logic, education, and undeniable fact. Yelling and screaming only solidifies their position. I have in the past as I do today, invite any PETA member who has a logical debate and wants to go head to head with the facts (not propaganda) to send me an email and I will gladly respond in a mature manner. Did I mention that thus far no one has bothered to respond, perhaps they realize that they don't have any facts to stand on.

I'm not a hunter, but I do eat meat. Even though I think you went a little overboard on the conspiracy theory behind PETA, but I do agree with you for the most part, as they are a bit overzealous.
One such example of their overzealousness is an upcoming ballot initiative in California. I urge all Californians to vote against this legislation which seeks to make pitbulls, rottweilers, and other such breeds of dogs extinct through mandatory spaying and neutering.
Vote NO on Proposition SB 861 this November! Blame the deed, not the breed!

i used to live in northern California. i worked for Fish and Game in the Klamath-Trinity. we once counted 20 bears feeding out of a dumpster in the Willow Creek are one night. we also collected DNA data on bears during hunting season. the over all quality of the bears were poor. the blackberry bears are the only ones to eat. there are so many bears in the back country. it's not healthy.
i now live in eastern Oregon and counted 25 white tail in my garden this morning. they are like rats. and there are so many starving satellite male cougars roaming it is pathetic. we are over run with wild turkeys. the elk population is great. the was a harem of about 30 cows and a grand stately bull out in the pasture the other morning.
in all my years of wandering in the back country i rarely come across the species of animal activist. they tend to nest in caves in the cities and the college campus. i wonder if they know how much pot a deer can eat in one night.
those who whine most about hunting should attend a hunter's safety class. my 13 year old girl has and owns a Remington. she has a deep respect for nature and the art of hunting. the activists need to get out of Starbucks and into the back country and witness for themselves what is really going on.

I'm with you I give alot of money to groups such as the NRA and NWTF. Also if PETA knew !/2 of what sportsman did for environment they would keep quiet. Do they goto state parks? Ride their mountain bikes on state land? Where do they think that money came from to buy that acreage? Most of it came from the purchase of hunting licenses. If they cared about their land they would purchase a hunting license also.

I'm with you. I don't think most PETA people really know what it is there organization does. Check out www.petakillsanimals.com for more information. If you can look at all the information they have ( gotten from legitamite sources ) and still support that organization then you have some serious issues to discuss with your psychologist.

you need to understand that most peta types have no understanding of nature except what they get from watching bambi. they think that all the little critters get togeather in some forest clearing and hold dances under the moonlight. in short most of them are dumber that a stump. never argue with an idiot, they drag the discussion down to their level and then beat you with their greater experence

Now now...
Peta has the right to be heard (misinformed and dilusional as they are). Every person and group should have a voice.
So I guess the hunters just need to scream louder!!
I hear you loud and clear and am with you!
