I use to live in new york city, and most people had to park at least 5 feet from the fire hydrants, too many times people would park along side of the hydrants and when there was a fire they would put the hoses from the fire trucks through the car windows, to reach the hydrants, I am sure whatever city you live in will have a rule for this.

The sidewalk is usually painted a certain color indicating where the hydrant zone ends & the parking area begins. It's usually an average of about 8-10 feet away. Happy parking :)

gee rami, you should have spent a little more time studying on your driving exam, the answer was there! (slap yourself in the forehead) instead your asking someone on the internet to give you the answer. sounds like to me you live somewhere that you want to park close to your door and the only place to park is next to a fire hydrant and you want our permission.
