I imagine that God created the this universe and all universes within the grand multiverse as an experiment of sorts. He is not going to interfere with the natural progression of evolution. We, the intelligent life of the universe, better be smart enough to survive though ;)

Famine,War,genocide abounds, where is the mercy? You don't believe in God, so your question should not be theologically, but a statement how low can man go?
Non-comprehension of His ways does not serve to disqualify Him but rather stems from our inability to understand His infinite wisdom. Ultimately the human being realizes his perception is finite. He realizes that such a reaction has no place and while suffering, retires in the knowledge that although he can not at this moment comprehend what is going on, ultimately the Supreme Judge will execute justice. Through the question, and expression of pain, his faith is restored and strengthened.

He isn't hiding. He is where He has always been. One day He will put an end to all sin. In the meantime...people still have the opportunity to be saved from their sins through Jesus Christ. When God does step in...salvation will no longer be possible; there will be only the judgment.

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Stop sinning as what you are doing now and the collective sins of all mankind that is causing all these troubles. Tell others also to repent. It is our sifulness that is causing all these woesome plight and malaise, all over the world, not Him. Do not put the blame on Him.
God is not hiding. He is under your feet. You are ruled by His law of gravity and his law of time.
