Next ask them if we're all decendents of Noah. See if anyone gets it right.

In short, the ark housed species from representative kinds of animals (what we would classify as genus). The animals aboard the ark were genetic ancestors to today's animals, which differ because of natural selection, or variation due largely to the loss of genetic information (this differs from evolution, an unproven, unobservable theory which requires increasing complexity, carrying on the "something from nothing" mantra of Big Bang enthusiasts).
Lions and tigers, as anyone who remembers Napoleon Dynamite's liger is aware, are examples of animals that can interbreed. This is due to a common genetic history. These species contain a similar genetic code that retains enough source material to allow at least one generation of procreation - even if further breeding may not be possible. So in this case an ancestor big cat would have been included, even if each specific type and species as we know it today was not.
According to Genesis 6:15, the ark measured 300x50x50 cubits, which is about 459x75x44 feet or 1.54 million cubic feet. To put this in perspective, this is the equivalent volume of 522 standard American railroad stock cars, each of which can hold 240 sheep. It is estimated that about 8,000 kinds (or genera in taxonomical terms) of animals would have been included. Given animal sizes, adequate cages could have housed all required animals and still left more than half the ark free for food and supplies.
Also remember that Noah had 120 years to build this thing (and "Noah built" means he was responsible for building, not that he did not use sons, contractors and other labor) and that the animals all came to the ark once it was time for the flood to occur. Noah and his family weren't shooting craps in the bottom deck once the flood began - they on board to look after things - hard but manageable work under the divine hand of God.
The ark is very much validated by sound science and corroborated by history (there are numerous cataclysmic flood legends, though none share the detail and feasibility of the account of Noah) and to claim otherwise without objectively reviewing the facts is to do oneself a great disservice.

While Genesis 6 is a fantastic story, if you can believe Genesis 1:1, you will have no problem with Genesis 6. I believe Moses was building this structure for about 100 years or so, and was given instruction by God. Given that much time, I don't think this is as fantastic of story as you might think. I, however, don't think you are an idiot for questioning it, either.
The evidence for Christ's ressurection is overwhelming. That is the one event in the Bible that must be focused on. If that happened, everything else is easy to believe. If it did not happen, our faith is in vain, and it doesn't matter what else happened. Arguing about how Noah may or may not have watered the animals (this was a miraculous event - who says they needed to drink?!?) is pointless. Arguing about whether or not Jesus was the Son of God and rose from the dead on the third day, and ascended into heaven is the only argument that can bear any fruit.

I said that, and I can tell you, beyond a shadow of a doubt, you have read nothing pertaining to the extensive research done on the mystery, and theory of Noahs Arc. Rainwater is drinkable, common sense. There would have been so much rain as a matter of fact, the salt content would have been so low in the water around the boat even it would be drinkable. I didnt learn that in the Bible, but in a discussion in a Science College Course. Dont call me out, it'll just make you look silly.

One man did not build the Ark, in addition, if you read the text carefully, which evidently you didn't, he had at least 100 years to build the ark. Read Genesis 5:32, Noah was 500 years old. Then read Genesis 7:11, Noah was 600 years old. Genesis 6:10, it reads that Noah had 3 sons. In addition, his sons had wives, that is 8 people to gather food and build the ark. Not as preposterous as you supposed. The animals were only adolesent, so they don't take up as much space or eat as much food. The ark was longer than a football field by 150 feet, and was 45 feet high, enough for 3 levels. I think you presuppose too much and you only read what you want to read. You should feel bad for yourself.

Christians are not crazy they are saved and are forgiven for everything. what is crazy is to say that noah did not do all of those things. The Lord saw how great the wickedness og man had become on earth and was grieved about it and the Lord said i will wipe mankind whome i have created from the face of the earth. The Lord said to noah that the ark was to be 450 feet long and 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. it was on the 17th day of the 2nd month that the floodgates of heaven opened. it was Gods will that this happen and so it did anything that is in the will of God will happen weather we humans like it or not. its lack of commen sense to me not to believe this story

Humm did you ever stop to think that God may have destroyed some of the animals and Noah did have help building the ark, and who said all the animals ate? Hum maybe God could suppress their appetites who knows what all God can do?
Here is a question for you, how is it that the prophecies in the Bible have been fulfilled with 100% accuracy hundreds of years later? Do a web search on fulfilled Bible prophecies and see what you can find, paying close attention to the dates they were prophesied and the dates they were fulfilled....

Your proof that I'm "brainwashed" because, 1st: I'm a Christian and 2nd: I do believe in the Biblical account concerning Noah. led me to "come in" and read what you had to say.
First, to understand this particular account, let's get a few things straight.
A: I'm sure you have heard of the saying that says, "Rome wasn't built in a day." You must understand that in the building of this ark, it didn't take "a day". Nor did it take a week, since he did have his sons, their wives and his wife present to help him. It didn't even take a year. This was a multi-year project that God instructed Noah to do and complete.
B: During the entire time he and his family was constructing this ark, the people would come and ridicule him the entire time.
C: Since the King James uses the measurement of a "cubit"; what is a cubit's length, then. Here is what I found out concerning that measurement, which was used, not only at that time but during the Roman era too;
Cubit is the name for any one of many units of measure used by various ancient peoples and is among the first recorded units of length. The natural cubit is based on the distance between thumb and another finger to the elbow on an average person. It was employed consistently for measuring products like cords and textiles through the Middle-Ages up to the Early Modern Times. The natural cubit measures 24 digits or 6 palms. This is about 45 cm or 18 inches (1.50 ft).
Over time, other units similar in concept to the cubit have measured:
7 palms, ~52.5 cm, or 21 inches (1.75 ft)
8 palms, ~60 cm, or 24 inches (2.00 ft)
9 palms, ~67.5 cm, or 27 inches (2.25 ft)
D. Since the cubit can be measured about 18 inches
E To translate, now, the size of this ark, is simple:
the length is 300 cubits - X 18 = 5400 inches
Doesn't sound like a lot till you divide that by 12" (1 foot) which comes out to be 450 feet. Doesn't sound like a lot until you divide that by 3 feet -- (1 yard) and that equals 150 yards. One football field and other 50 yards added to it and you got the length alone. Do this with the other measurements -- the width = 50 cubits --- that's 25 yards. Lastly, the height = 30 cubits and that's 15 yards high.
It was to have rooms -- cages inside it -- and rooms for the families and it was to be covered with pitch so it water-resistant.
All the creatures, including birds and "creeping" things are to be brought in -- one male -- one female. There were other conditions as well. I won't go into all of them here for sake of time but you can certainly read it in Genesis 6-9
It is true that rain was a part of the flood waters. You fail to mention that a cataclysmic event occurred where "the fountains of the great deep were broken up." This brought in more water than just the rain. This happened until all of the earth was covered with water. Imagine that at the time, all those people that made fun of Noah for all that time were now clawing at the ark, wanting in so badly? A fascinating item concerning archeology is that they have found bones of sea life in mountainous regions. How did or would ancient sea life be found up there?
Another thing to understand is that I, as a Christian, take many things what the Bible says with faith involved. If you don't have that faith, the stories and accounts in the Bible are unreal. Then again we are discussing a being that is beyond our imagination since He knows the past, present and future and is all knowing. Who can question God?
Apparently, since you don't share my beliefs and my faith, I guess I may seem crazy to you. But, please, don't feel bad for me. Actually, I feel bad for you. Because you want answers about God, there is no other way but to believe that He exists and that He truly cares for you.
Another thing, there are many things in our lives we question and wonder about. He gave us the minds to explore. Yet, if we're going to deny His existence from the beginning and rule out any possibility that He's involved, then we're shutting off answers to questions we may possibly learn a lot sooner.

Talk about brainwashing, the Ark was a box, not a boat. It need only float, not sail. As for every animal, back than all the animals, as well as humans, still lived close to Eden. It was less than 1000 years since the creation of man, and less than 2000 years since the creation of animals. There was little development of new versions of species by then. They still contained most all the primary genetic code as the original stock. They didn't need two tigers and two lions, as neither had not yet developed. Have you every seen a lion or tiger fossil dating back more than a few thousand years. The number of species was more compact, meaning there was less to deal with. Bears, or whatever the base species was, were likely herbivores, just like the panda bear, which is believed to predate out bears in America.
You need to study evolution more. You will learn a thing or two about the Bible. Also, learn more about the Bible than just mythological tainted Bible stories before asking a question about Bible teachings.

You can argue about logic vs. illogic with regards to what people believe until the day you die, but it won't change the fact that people can believe whatever it is that they choose to believe in. You are free to believe in Christianity or to NOT believe in it, as with any other religion/faith. It's quite obvious that you have chosen to NOT believe in Christianity. If you are happy and content with this choice then what is the reason for question/comments? Simply remain happy and content with your choice, and accept that others are free to find happiness/contentment with THEIR choices whether or not their choices are the same as yours.

Don't forget that young earth creationists claim that humans and dinosaurs coexisted in biblical times. So not just modern animals were on the ark but at least two of all species of land animal that ever existed rode on the ark. Dinosaurs, mammoths, saber tooth tigers, etc.
Logic dictates that such a feat is highly improbable.
