Yes, it is most certainly a sin. All sexual actions that are not between a married couple and do not have the possibility of conception are illicit and corrupt in the eyes of God. They are a perversion of the beautiful act that is true sexual union, and it is greviously sinful to violate this wonderful gift--sex--that God has granted to married couples. As for you're current situation, I hope and pray that you continue to live a life of chastity (remember, chastity is sexual purity throughout all of life, married and unmarried, and is required of all people under pain of sin) and that your husband may do the same. May God bless you in your times of lonliness, and may He grant His protection to your husband so that you may be reunited in the near future. I wish you the best of luck in dealing with your temptations, and I will pray for you that you will be able to live out each day in a manner pleasing to the Lord. By the way, here's a good prayer to say each day:
My God, I give You this day. I offer to You now all of the good that I shall do, and I promise to accept for the love of You, all of the difficulties that I shall meet. Help me to conduct myself during this day in a manner pleasing to You. Amen.
(this is the Direction of Intention)
God bless, and may you never waver in your dedication to the Lord and to your vigilance against the evil one and all that he represents.

Nope it is not. Have fun. You know I'm going to add to this. As a Christain I get really tired of hearing church doctrine saying that masturbation is a sin. I can see it being sinful if all you do is sit at home and masturbate, or if you let it influence you towards (in my case) lusting after a woman and making her an object instead of a person, or if it interfres with your spiritual life, or...if you are married and thinkinb about other people while doing it. But its natural and studies show that a man (which I'm assuming you are not) has to have a release ever 48 hourse (I could be off a bit) and...its got to happen somewhere. If we are making biological needs a sin..then we are being stupid and putting up unnessecary burdans on each other. I mean...are we really going to go back to the old testament legalism? I hope not. In yoru case I am assuming you will be thinking about your husband. Why go crazy worrying when you can take care of this problem. The way I see it if you are thinking about the man you love and are married to, then...go for it. Do not feel guilty, and if it is a sin, so what. You aren't cheating on your husband, and if you are a Christain you believe Jesus' blood takes care of all sins. Don't worry, be happy. Go masturbate.

There is no specific mention of masturbation in the Bible. Any prohibition on it is strictly a man made prohibition connected with Church Doctrine. I am seperated from my wife for months at a time too and I do not consider myself evil for masturbating.

Diverse religions and denominations will have different answers. The only thing I can tell you is that masturbation is a normal expression of human sexuality. Your religious interpretation may vary.

1st Thessalonians 4 - 2 : 5 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God , even your sanctification , that ye should abstain from fornication : That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor ; Not in the lust of concupiscence , even as the gentiles which know not God :.............If you have a feeling of guilt , where do you think that guilt feeling is coming from ??? You decide if you can live with or without the guilt . Something is making you question your actions , maybe the Holy Spirit ?? God loves you forever , a climax is only for the moment . God Bless with patience for your husband ..

Does it matter? Aren't you going to sin anyway? So why not just do it alone when no one is bothering you? Atleast you're the only one getting hurt.

According to Christianity, it might be.
However, Christianity is a poor guide when it comes to normal healthy sexuality.

Hell no! Don't let any of these puritans convince you otherwise! It helps relieve menstrual cramps and makes you more immune to yeast infections. So finger away!
