According to BMI (Body Mass Index), your friend is a bit under weight. She needs to weigh between 101 - 126 pounds, to be considered normal.

If you need to calculate BMI yourself, it goes like this

BMI = Weight in pounds * 703 / (height in inches)^2

[1foot = 12 inches]

BMI table
------------

Below 18.5 ---> Under weight
18.5 - 24.9 ----> Normal
25 - 29.9 ----> Overweight
30 and Above ----> Obese

"What's the right weight for my child?" is one of the most common questions parents have. It seems like a simple question. But, it's not always an easy one to answer. Why not? People have different body types, so there's no single number that's the right weight for everyone. Even among people who are the same height and age, some are more muscular or more developed than others. That's because not all kids have the same body type or develop at the same time.

It is possible to find out if your child is in a healthy weight range for his or her height, though - it just takes a little effort. You'll also be able to put your child's measurements into our BMI calculator and get an idea of how your child is doing."

Well, she is certainly not overweight and may even be slightly underweight for her age and height. I would guess the average weight for a 12 year old at 5ft2 would be around 100lb-110lb, and she is not even close. Tell her to stop worrying and keep an eye on her, she may be developing a body image disorder. HTH : )

The correct average weight for your height is between 52 and 55 kilos depending on your bone structure.So that makes her 50 kgs slightly under weight.

85 is way underweight. if your 5'2 you should be at least 110-120. this is that time where you are becoming a woman PHYSICALLY. plus you have to remember for alot of girls this is when they stop growing. so if this person isn't eatting properly and exersieing properly they could end up on a road to hurting themselves.

Take a good look at her. Does she look too skinny, scrawny? If she does, she probably needs to gain a little muscle mass, I wouldn't recommend gaining fat.
