What you are facing is a man, A Typical Male. What I would suggest is for you to try to talk to him in different types of settings. Like maybe over dinner in a restaurant or maybe even take a walk in a park. That always seems to be a great place for two people to talk to over things and get things out in the open. Make sure you know what you want to talk to him about and how you want to say it to him. I would say that you definitely say that if you cant get this accomplished by any of the ways that I mentioned then I would say that you might want to go to a councilor and see if you can get some help on talking to him and forcing him to listen to you. Well good luck with you boyfriend. I hope every thing works out for the best.

He doesn't want to hear what your saying because he is afraid that you will have a point. The whole ex wife's family thing sucks for you, I can relate, doesn't it piss you off that he feels obligated to still do things for them even though the two of them aren't together anymore? Your situation is a little scary because it sounds like he doesn't even want to try to come together and get on the same page about things, men can be jerks, sorry your going through this.

How can it possibly matter why he is the way he is. The most important question here is, Why have you stuck around & put up with it for 21/2 years?
I think he's definately right about one thing for sure. He's Not changing.
So it's up to you Honey, what can you do to change your situation? Do I have to spell it out for you? C'mon, you know the answer.

He's letting you know who's the boss. It's all about establishing dominance. I'm shocked that this prime catch would have an ex-wife! That should be your first clue......run or drive to your parents house. Your parents will comfort you and tell you how much of a tool they thought he was all along.

Because he probably is. Come on, he's your boyfriend, and you expect strangers on YA to give you a better answer than you can come up with?
Maybe he's just a jerk. Or not the right guy for you. You're not married, and you didn't mention having kids, so get up and get out if you don't like it.
Who's stopping you?

HEY.. are you seeing my husband? oh, well I guess not.. only cause he doesnt go to the bar. he doesnt yell soo much.. but by George he has to be right. We dont talk much anymore. I may as well live alone.. leave your BF and find someone you can be an equal too.. before you look back and wish you had left earlier.

I'm married to his twin!
I just ignore him when he goes off on one or simply agree that hes right with everything until hes calmed down-- then when he is all relaxed and thinks hes the king pin I give it all back to him and some more. Its called " Playing the Game".

Get out. He has control issues. He seems to enjoy double standards. Also he seems to not be the relationship type anyway for putting you last all the time. He doesn't listen to you. Just get out of the "relationship." He's just a jerk who doesn't deserve a girl who has opinions.

He is self-centered and selfish...he will not change...trust me. You need to let him go or you will end up with really low self-esteem. (He makes you think that you are always wrong?)
When you are dating a man, you must come first (most of the time).
