Alright so my wisdom teeth have been grown in since I was 13 or so, but my dentist said it wasn't necessary to remove them. I even had braces on my wisdom teeth. But sometimes I hear that they should be taken out anyways?

Don't have 'em out until the doctor says so. It's a sucky recovery and is extremely expensive, as most insurance companies don't cover 100% of it.

Absolutely NOT... Some doctors believe in taking Wisdoms out, just for the hell of it! DONT... If theres no reasons behind them to be taken then dont. Some people have the room for them and thats a good thing. MOST people dont, so needless to say have them taken out. If your dentist says your fine, and your Orthodontist see no problems with them... Leave them be!

*Bottom line... Now that youve had Ortho treatment and they are aligned the way they are suppose to be...if you remove them now.. your teeth will shift AGAIN, and that will mess up your Ortho treatment. Leave them, they are absolutely fine!!

It is true u dont need your wisdom teeth, but no its not necessary to pull them out unless they cause you too much trouble.

An example would be me - all my wisdom teeth grew through in my 20s, except the last one which came out this year (at 27) has collided with the next tooth and is pushing all my teeth out of alignment (its called tooth impaction).

I asked my doctor to remove all four, but he refuses. He is removing the bad one though in 1 months time.

They arent necessary, but they dont need to be removed. As long as they are healthy they can stay in your mouth for life without any probs. Listen to your dentist, he knows best.

If the wisdom teeth have erupted, are in a good occlusion (bite), and are not creating any problems with your oral hygiene or alignment...you can probably keep them.

Wisdom teeth can cause problems with dental crowding, changes in occlusion (bite), gum disease, and even disfiguring cysts in the jaws. It is generally a good idea to have them removed (before age 25), as they usually cause problems of one kind or another for most people.

However, if you fit the picture I described above, and your general dentist/orthodontist is keeping an eye on them, you're probably OK.

If they are already grown in and not bothering you then you more than likely can just leave them alone. I had to get mine removed because they were growing in crooked and one wasnt breaking thru the gum at all. Pretty gross. I know some people who never had to get theirs taken out. If your dentist said it was cool then it prolly is.

My wisdom teeth are crooked and impacted. However, they don't hurt. They never hurt.

My Dentist said as long as they don't hurt there is no reason to remove them. :)
