for all Windows even XP you need a software DVD decoder to play DVDs, you can get free ones at tucows.com or other places, you should have received a disk with the DVD drive with a DVD playing software on it, they come with that software otherwise the drive is no good to people for wanting to watch DVDs on their new drive

You just need DVD player Software,
which you can find fee from net.
Or may be it is included in the CD which you have received with your DVD drive.

if you already tried all this then u have to reinstall driver of DVD player and try the same again.

if you have problem afer this also then u can mail me your problem on barkatpathan@yahoo.com

best of luck

Pure and simple you need to get DVD player software, such as NERO. I'm sure you can find some free one like DivX on the internet. Google it my friend.

first go to control pannel open performence and maintence click on sytem click on device manager Then look to see if dvd is on the list,if its there right click then click properties,in there it will tell you if its working properly of not,if not try updating driver.
the only other way is to uninstall and reinstall

make sure your pc is compatiable with the hardware,if not return it
