your hair needs that oil. Glands in the scalp secrete oil for each of the hair's follicles. This oil actually allows the hair to slide through the scalp and protects the hair from the elements. The key is finding ways to cut down on some of those nasty oil spills. Wash your hair as often as you like, but use a mild shampoo and wash only once. You do not need to add a conditioner to oily hair. If you really want it drier, you can make it drier by having it permed or tinted.
use a deep cleansing shampoo like Clairol Herbal Essences Clarifying Shampoo.

Talc is linked to cancer, and has been found in ovarian tumors so I would aviod it. A google search on 'talc in cosmetics' will tell you more.

I use a chemical free natural herbal shampoo and cond called 'wild for hair' there are also good ones at www.mypure.com.au that can also be found in health food stores (try to aviod the chemicals they list on the site).

They may seem more pricey but you actually need to use a lot less so they last forever.

your hair will go a bit knotty for a week or so while it detoxes but then you'll hopefully find it rebalances and will be really soft and manageable.

I was quite scared of 'natural' shampoo at first but it's the best stuff I've ever used!

good luck :)

The best shampoo for oily hair is a shampoo with lavender extract. And try to wash it every day or at least 4 times a week.
A very good one is Lavender Harvest Clarifying Shampoo of L'Occitane en Provence (a french brand).
If you want to check out the web site: http://usa.loccitane.com

If you run your fingers through your hair a lot you should stop. Running your fingers through your hair stimulates the oil glands. Use shampoos for oily hair and a light conditioner. Make sure you are getting your hair real clean when you wash it. If you have very thick hair, sometimes it is hard to tell how well you are washing, suds up at least twice. Also try buying different shampoos. Sometimes certain shampoos stop working as well than when you first started using them.

I have the same problem. Look for products specifically for oily hair. Try changing shampoo brands every once in a while. See what works and doesn't work. Pretty much, just experiment with the products you use.

If your hair is fine and also thin, you may want to shampoo every day or every other day using a shampoo that does not have a built in conditioner...use a conditioner, but one that is for your type of hair, then use it sparingly, only applying it to your ends, maybe just a little to your scalp - too much conditioner on your scalp area will make fine, thin hair too heavy.

Quit the baby powder, it's gunking up your hair. Instead of conditioner, you may want to instead try a creme rinse product...some of these can also be home-made and very beneficial to your hair.

if you have blonde hair then you should be able to use as much powder as you want only if you blend it well. when you wash your hair you should not use conditioner on your roots, just a spray detangler or a leave in conditioner. only use conditioner on the ends, making sure to rinse well. if you use a shampoo that makes you feel like you have residue in your hair then you should not use it.. Shampoo residue makes your hair greasier. IF you have fine or thin hair you should consider getting highlights. the haircolor thickens the strands and prevents hair from getting oily.

switch shampoo, and it sounds weird but don't wash it every day
you stimulate your scalp and it causes more oils. I use to wash my hair every single day and it was very oily,I also stopped using a brush i only use a wide toothed comb. I also don't use a hair dryer. Its all bad for your hair, I've grown my hair out for the past 4 years now and it very healthy and past my butt, i don't know if it will help you but it helped me. I use Garnier Fructis, I love it!!! I use it every other day or every 2 days, depending if it looks bad or not.
